Patterson's speed may get him through this and he had enough in his gloves to hurt Williams. But Williams is a live underdog in this one and could be lethal to Patterson if he isn't careful.
I used to think williams defintly but now I'd bet on Floyd for Being the faster more skilled boxer, if williams lands on him hes defintly capable of knocking floyd out. So this fight could go either way, but my money is still on Patterson, they both had glass chins

The Williams that fought and hurt Liston could blitz Patterson like he tried to do with Sonny and the hand speed and power to get it done....my only doubts here is Williams bad footwork and balance vs Patterson's good footwork and balance
Concur. Williams never really developed beyond the 2 Liston losses. If Williams has the confidence he had going into Liston I, he might take Floyd out early like Ingo did. Otherwise, Floyd wins by mid-late TKO.
Patterson. He was simply a better fighter with a greater degree of class. Williams was not championship material. When your best win was over a very green Terrell you shouldn't be compared to a guy who was for 30 years the youngest hw champion and should have been the first three time hw champion by another three decades.
Yes ,he was a class above him for skill,but the two best punchers he faced ko'd him.Williams had a good jab too and fast hands,he has a live punchers chance imo.

Williams never came close to knocking out anyone even close to Patterson's class. In fact I dont know that he ever knocked out a anyone rated in the top 10. I think weve all kind of had this argument several times before but Im just not sold Williams. He may have had a big punch but he certainly didnt have the class to get it home on anyone that mattered so I cant consider him a huge danger.
