I rarely venture into these parts. My depth of knowledge on British boxing is shameful

But god damn, surely this is one of the strongest periods for us in terms of the talent pool?

Yes I think so, but I think I felt even better a few years back. You know before Froch retired and Golovkin broke Kell Brook ... and when Fury could fit on one plane seat. You had some hope of Khan, Haye and Bellew being more than just circus acts as well.

British boxing is great but how many can we say are the best in their divisions?

    AJ or Fury obviously arguably

Outside of them im struggling. We have some talented fighters for sure but not many if any elite level.

Have a few good prospects too!

No. A year or two ago maybe when we had so many world champions. Unfortunately most seem to have lost them! We’re left with AJ and BJS and who else?

There's a wealth of prospects, not any bonafide world class fighters. But you can argue that there's not many fighters outside British who fit that description. Most of them seem to have retired or become inactive recently.

    You missed yafai off.

Crolla, Flanagan, Liam Smith, Kel Brook, Burns, Bellew, Cleverly, Degale just off the top of my head have lost/relinquished titles in the past 12/18 months.

So to answer the OP it’s oribably a bad time for British boxing. It’s just had a golden period and now it’s rebuilding.

The Majority of British Boxers are hypejobs or Average at best stop falling for the Sky Hype.Only Joshua and Burnett are running their divisions. This has been said but a Average Afro-American/Mexican/Cuban boxer would take apart a Average Brit Boxer.Josh Kelly and Buatsi look decent but our boxers are sadly normally hype jobs if im being honest and when they get to America 90% of the time fail, exception is Lennox Lewis who some Brits still think is a Canadian at heart, sums it up.

I don't believe that this crop of olympians is better than the last 2 or 3. That's the cycle of talent, some of our top guys now are starting to lose and these guys underneath do not look as good, hope am wrong by the way.

We'e got a good amount of fighters in the upper echelons but apart from Joshua no real stand out fighters. Fury if he comes back decent will put us back on the map. But at best the rest are all top 5 in respective weight classes.

Oh look its yet another alt of ManLikeFemi, Ty577 etc. It was obvious how you would be like a duck to water in this thread with your repetitive anti british comments. Cuba only has one current world champion lol. The Uk has 6 or 7 current world champions and there will be more soon undoubtedly. This subject is totally un- trollable because the Uk always punches above its weight at boxing.Remind me again and how many current world champions your country of origin has? ;)

Joshua, Saunders, Groves Burnett, Selby, Mcdonnell, Yafai - 7 current world champions

Franpton is a top 15 P4P fighter also.
& Bellew, Campbell, Crolla, Brook, Degale, . Etc
Countless fighters in the top 10 of their divisions. Probably only second to the privileged Americans

Flanagan, Quigg, C Smith, L Smith, Josh Taylor, Campbell, Andrew Selby should all be fighting for wotld titles this year and most of them will win.

Taylor is a huge prospect could easily see him becoming the best at 140 and being a top 10 P4Per

Michael Conlan, Josh Kelly, Joshua Buatsi, Willy Hutchinson brilliant prospects and loads more.

Always constant talent coming through from the GB squad. Guys like Pat Mccormack, Peter Mcgrail, Callum French, Dalton Smith will be turning pro after 2020 and they will huge names. The talent never stops coming through.

Last year we had the most world champions of any country. We are always in the top 5 nations at boxing. For a small population of 65. Million we do really well. Boxing should be free to watch on the BBC because its clearly a sport we are good at!
