We boxing fans really need to be grateful for what's happening in the division right now. 4 of the 5 best hws are (hopefully, barring injury or drugs) fighting each other in the next few months. That will leave a clear top two who will almost certainly meet in the next 16 months. Granted, right now the AJ Parker winner will be the strong A side, but the Wilder Ortiz winner will be a very live and credible underdog. The last time something like that happened was Holyfield Lewis. THAT was an awesome time for hw's. Hopefully these fights will happen and this will be a comparably awesome era. Footnote: Tyson started out the A side in that "tournament". Then, Holyfield was A side against Lewis, and Lewis wound up on top. Anything could happen this time around as well.
Very true. It will be an incredible month. Whyte/Browne is a decent sidedish as well. Now that I think about it though, it’s too good. I’m betting injury or a failed test.
Yeah, you right about that, everyone has their favorites but there is too much power on display in both fights and all it takes is that one good shot.
Too bad that instead of crediting Ortiz or Parker on winning like they did Lewis they'll just downplay Wilder and Joshua. This generation of boxing fans are highly critical of giving anyone any credit.
LOL did you see how much stick Lennox Lewis used to get in those times.American Press used to be so tough on him.Using logic if Lewis wasnt credited their is no chance Wilder or Joshua wil be
Yes, avoid each other until there is nowhere left to hide then when the big fights are all that's left we forget all about the decade of ducking and praise our time. If we continue to get great fights for sometime I'll be grateful. Right now I view it as little more than chickens come home to roost.
It is pretty kinky when you think that it's the #1 vs. #3 and #4 vs. #5 facing off. A good amount gets established here.
You are right. But still, good that it's happening. I'm not even high on any of the four fighting relative to their ranking and most opinions, haha.
So true, the press had to be embarrassed into giving him credit after he was robbed in Lewis/Holyfield 1. If that fight hadn't of gone the way it had he'd still probably be "that overrated glass chinned Brit."
WBA champion Manuel Charr is also likely to announce his next fight very soon. Another heavyweight championship blockbuster fight most certainly!
This is true in a way. Ortiz and Wilder in particular could have much better resumes than they do. That said, I was sure this was just going to be a step by step coronation for AJ, with him picking off vastly overmatched, vastly less experienced, vastly less confident hws one by one as overwhelming favorite until he was fully unified. The fact that there will be a legit B+ side eventually in the Wilder Ortiz winner is a huge gift to boxing fans that I'm grateful for. They both could have just waited around hoping for an eventually cash out with AJ
Mind you,British Press werent all that keen on Lewis aswell, because of his Canadian Links.Lewis was like the forgetten one of those time and the most Underapprciated
True, Bruno was far more popular than him, some Brits never took to him. Had he fought more in the UK he might of gotten more popularity but he had to follow where the money was.
