It is true that Tua had significantly more lean body mass than Rocky-at least when he was fullly developed, not as much at the start of his career. So if this is the case, of course if they trained down they would not be a similar weight. Tua had biger bones, a broader build, & more muscle everywhere. Tyson was not quite as bulky, but when he was around 215 he looked LEAN. He was clearly somewhat larger than Marciano.
Dem Bones... Anyone eating enough to gain 50 pounds in their 20s like Tua or weigh over 200 pounds in their teens like Tyson will develop denser bones and increase frame size. You guys need biology lessons. The human skeleton is not a fixed size, depending on diet it grows in density until ages as late as 35. Tua was a chubby 200 pounder, who they built into a ripped muscular 230 pounder who then became a fat 250 pounder. The human body is more dynamic than you guys realize.
Orlin weighed 246 against Brian Neilson. Then in his very last fight aged 39 he weighed 196lb which was heavier than 188lb he was during previous cruiserweight days but still lighter than his debut weight of 199lb some 19 years earlier aged 20 years old. At HW Orlin often fought between 212-230. Altogether Orlin was close to Tua when he wanted to be a heavyweight and close to Marciano when he wanted to be a cruiser. He started as a growing heavyweight dropped to cruiser, won the title. Grew back up to HW then dropped to CW again. But it was all natural.
You also completely missed the sarcasm and context of an ancient post. Truth of the matter is both Tua and Maricano have broad shoulders and very short arms with comparable official wingspan measurements. And the criticism of Maricano's shoulders as being sloped is in contradiction of everything we know about shoulders and athleticism. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...layers-how-scouts-percieve-their-shortcomings
Goldman wouldn’t let Rocky eat bananas for snacks. He had to hide them under his bed from his trainer.
Sloping shoulders doesn't mean you are small though, Arnold Schwarzenegger had sloped shoulders........
Slope does not equal narrow. Slopes opposite is "boxed" Sloped shoulders is noted as an athletic and powerful trait, boxed shoulders are noted as lacking in development and power. Never the bright one, Mcvey.
So does most fighters and athletes. Tony Thompson stands as one of the few fighters i can think of with strikingly boxed shoulders, weird build on that guy.
