Guys like Mayweather have great speed and reflexes but he mostly relies on his skills.. whereas Pacquiao and Roy have even greater speed and incredible explosiveness /power.

Who do you think was more of a freak in their primes? I'd say Pac based on his style, he had speed, power and insane stamina to go for 12 rounds. His 147 run just shouldn't have happened in the first place and realistically any other fighter probably would have maxed out at 135 in his frame.

Both freaks of nature but I think Roy edges him slightly on the raw talent.

It think looking at footspeed Pac, power was Roy, and handspeed pretty much equal. Slight edge to RJJ p4p. Debatable though. Include stamina and Pac has Roy beat.

Pacquiao is one of the most overrated fighters, RJ for sure in athleticism, resume, etc etc.

I think it's widely agreed upon by fans, pundits, journalists, trainers and their
own peers that Roy Jones was very likely the most physically gifted boxer ever.
That's no knock on Pac because he's a specimen, but Roy, by far.

Note: I'm not saying most skilled, but physically, athletically gifted

by far? I think Roy had more technical skill so it makes it seem that way, and his style (back foot avoiding punches make him more untouchable)
Pacquiao being a whirlwind aggressor doesn't detract from his athleticism. Refresh of him beating the **** out of Margarito, a guy 5 inches taller and outweighing him by 25 lbs. The fact Pac bust him up and hurt the iron chinned Margarito is amazing.

Can you imagine Estrada/Cuadras/Rungvisai taking on Margarito?

Also, Roy in his prime typically threw 500 punches per fight.. Pacquiao during Cotto-Clottey-Margarito stretch was throwing 1,000 + (he threw 1,231 punches vs Clottey). Insane work rate.

    Tricky both were immensely gifted.

Speed, RJJ has P4P better single shot speed, but Pac's combinations where insanely fast and quicker than RJJ's. So I say it's equal.

Power, Pac hit hard but I think his speed stunned guys to drop them while RJJ genuine hurt guys and broke bones like against Virgil Hill. Edge to RJJ.

Footwork/Agility, RJJ had fast feet to go with his fast hands, he could get in and out before you could respond. Pac's footwork is insanely fast, his ability to shift weight so quickly is what allowed him to throw such blindingly fast combinations from different angles. Edge to Pac

Reflexes, Pac had good reflexes but RJJ's were practically supernatural. He could slip shots with bewildering ease during his prime. Clearly RJJ wins this.

So I think RJJ edges it, but then I think RJJ was the most naturally gifted boxer we've ever seen.

Tough to say given the different styles employed. Both are freaks.

Roy has a slight edge on reflexes, but I also don't know if it'd look that way if he engaged and threw as much as Pac did. Roy looks more untouchable, but it's easier to look more untouchable when the other guy has twice your workrate.

As much as Roy gets knocked for improper fundamentals, I think he fought the perfect fights for much of his career to minimize risk & damage taken. His style, however, was more reliant on supreme athleticism. The decline once that eroded was much steeper as a result. A slower Pac could still outbox you.

RJJ no question for me. Athletically they are about equal, except RJJ is WAY bigger which makes his athleticism so much more incredible.

RRJ was the most athletic boxer in history. Did things that a human being had no right to do.

Roy jones is quicker with single shot. Pac is rapid with his combination.
Roy is p4p probably the most athletic boxer. He is 4-5 weight class bigger than Pac.
