    Look at Louis, he looks skinny too.

    They didn’t used to say that in the 1930’s I’ll tell you that. My source? Personal observations. Watch more footage from the 1930s like a Primo Carnera fight. Then compare it to an Anthony Joshua fight. And then come to terms with the fact that Primo was bigger than AJ despite that he looks like a MW in some films.

    There’s a reason you’re having trouble believing that these men are 200lb. And it’s not because they weren’t actually 200lb!

    Any idea where I can find this quote?

    The punches may not be 1 to 1 with Foreman’s power but it’s close. He has the thudding bulldozing effect of short punches. And the hand speed makes it seem like a whole different class of punching ability altogether.

    Different type of punchers but foreman was the havier hitter shot for shot no question about.

    He beat Braddock and Risko.

    He stopped Lasky twice, Poreda in a round, and stopped Ettore in 2.

    6”2 at around 200lb.

    I know, but that doesn't make it a very good win for Louis bud. Nobody on Retzlaff resume is anything special imo

    Mediocre resume. Not awful and his win percentage was very good. Just doesn't have a real marquee name on his ledger from the era.
    Risko is a good win. Despite all his losses he was a contender and a very good gate keeper.
    Heeny was tough and a world title challenger. Braddock was champion even if a poor one.
    Retzlaff looked in shape and tried from the look of it on film, nothing wrong with this defense considering Joe was lining them up and knocking them down at this point

    The way Joe had Retzlaff on the ropes just prior to the end...Charlie's body posture on the ropes...reminded me of the 2nd Schmeling bout.

    I think this punch was a bit more special than that. To be moving backward and produce this sort of power from such an insanely short punch is really something. Sure people can hit pretty hard sliding back but this punch of Joe's is extremely impressive.
