Yeah ive been turned off by it many times by many different Boxers. A little bit in certain circumstances i dont mind. I loved the 1st time i saw Lomo do the matador i loved it, a moment of gorgeous footwork and it just seemed fitting. I was pissed when i saw him do it in his next fight. Loved Hamed but always wished he had toned his antics down, alot. Didnt like Jones Jr doing alot of what he did but when Calzaghe mocked him with some of his own i didnt like that either. If it were up to me we would have a lot less showboating and a bit more talking between the Boxers and we should get to hear it. We all found out what Joshua was saying to Klitchko in their fight but i would of loved to of heard it as they spoke. But at the same time when you get showboaters you get showboaters that get smashed to bits and then they look real stupid. Broner being done by Maidana being my favourite. It was perfect.
Magomed Kurbanov vs Akinori Watanabe was a good one. Watanabe got the living **** beat out of him but kept showboating as if to ask for more! Best part was that whenever Watanabe showboated, Kurbanov would halt his offense. Watanabe bought himself a lot of time with that tactic(unintentionally most likely).
I dont like show offs. Dont like gimmicks once the 1st bell has rung. When they box to the best of their abilities i am amazed, it is poetry, showboating doesnt add anything for me. Its not the end of the world for me when they do it, i dont find it disgusting or horrible, its just not for me.
Even though Roy has been guilty of the same thing I still didn't like it when Calzage showboated against an injured Jones.
the only one i ever gave a pass to for habitual showboating, was jorge paez, but that was his gimmic.
I actually enjoyed calzaghe showboating against rjj he was giving him a humbling taste of his own medicine. For me it was the most memorable momment in the fight. Boxing came full circle to rjj that night.
