I favor Marciano in this tear up. Marciano could very well be close to unbeatable as you can get if you're comparing him against under 200 pound fighters. Not saying he is unbeatable by anyone under 200, but he could be on the right night. Marciano beat better skilled fighters all the time with his work rate and punching power. I expect Holyfield to be up on the cards at first, but as the fight goes on, he wears Holyfield down. Especially over 15 rounds and Charles fought smart by actually fighting Marciano like Holyfield would later fight Tyson. But at that time Holyfield would start off boxing but probably get caught up in going toe to toe with Marciano and I think Marciano could win via UD or even stop Holyfield late.
I doubt at 190 pounds, he could just walk through Marciano's power. I don't think any 190 pounder could walk through Marciano's power.
I think Marcianos better suited at the weight tbh, but it could go either way at cruiser. Tough fight for both!
Never listed Cruisers but, based on the way I rate, my top three ATG Cruisers would read as follows: 1. Dempsey 2. Marciano 3. Holyfield Incidentally, in this case, this is also the way I view them head to head. So Rocky by a late TKO. That's my thinking.
I would agree if Holyfield had not moved up and fought Tyson, Foreman, Lewis, Mercer etc......his chin did not just get tougher by that much with his later weight and size......some people mistakenly think muscle is a magical chin enhancer....muscle around the neck helps but at the end of the day either you can take a punch or you can't. Holyfield was more mobile and disciplined at 190 to stick and move as well as top power for the weight
Total nonsense. If you add muscle in your neck definitely you will be able to take a better shot.a 190 pounder evander would have get raped by all the top opposition that he fought at hw
Good post. Marciano doesn't get the respect he deserves most of the time, but it also seems like he becomes this unstoppable warrior in certain situations. Holyfield was one tough SOB. I feel like people are underestimating his punch resistance and overestimating Rocky's punching against Holyfield. I do know Rocky's heart and determination were top notch but I feel like Holyfield's is right up there as well. He stood toe to toe with some of the greatest and never backed down. Either way, this would have been a classic match.
