Another Marciano thread, I don't know about unbeatable, except in popularity.

Only fighter who pulls that trick out of his hat is Holyfield at cruiser weight. Holyfield had the skill level AND the toughness. I believe Holyfield if he fights a discipline fight takes Marciano apart.

Perhaps in exiting both extremes of the popularity spectrum!

Toney would have to be on his game though.

Marciano didn't have the accuracy to match his power. It's not that he couldn't have KO'd Walcott in 1 round or I should say, it's not that he didn't have the power to do it in round 1, but he couldn't land that flush shot that he did in round 13.

Was Jack Johnson under 200, I thought he was over 200? Dempsey and Marciano is tough to call. Marciano beat the better fighters while Dempsey struggled with lesser fighters. That's why I think Marciano would be more formidable H2H (MOST TIMES). For example, I'd pick Marciano to beat Floyd Paterson before I'd pick Dempsey to do it. Dempsey/Marciano would be 2nd only to Frazier/Marciano in terms of edge of your seat fighting thrills.

I put Louis with the 200+ pound crew instead of the under 200 crew, for the purposes of this discussion. Dempsey has a reasonable shot. Toney, maybe he could, but I'd favor Rocky.

He catches Joe flush more than a few times with big right hands and Joe doesn't budge. It's when Joe's legs go south that he gets him coming off the ropes and things come to a conclusion. I don't see it as the stroke of lightning that many prefer to see it as. Joe gets tired and slows down. He was old as dirt. That happens.
