One fighter beat him at Lightweight and he ko'd him in the rubber match , a division Lomachenko has never even fought in yet! How long ago was it you were telling us how great Kovalev was? If Danny Garcia spanks Loma you are going to look a right **** . Just as you did when Ward out gamed Kova!
Kovalev won the first fight vs Ward. The two boxed 20 rounds and you could argue each won ten. Ward is a first ballot hall of fame guy. In the re-match Kovalev was put out by low blows. I think Kovalev has done enough to rate as as all time top 25 light heavyweight, and his career is not over yet. But his isn't a thread about him so let's move on. I think Lomo would beat ANYONE Duran fought at light weight, including Esteban De Jusus, who floored, hurt and easily out classed Duran. A fair score card is De Jesus 6 rounds, Duran 3, 1 round even. I checked the weights of the fight. Duran 137.5 about the same weight Lomo was in his last fight and De Jesus was 138 on that night. You can see the knockdown below This content is protected
No ,Kovalev lost both fights. Why you mentioned how Duran did once past his prime fighting at higher weights is baffling because it is at LIGHTWEIGHT where he would be fighting Lomachenko Duran is a consensus ATG light weight many think the greatest!Loma has never fought there! I 've seen the kd I watched it when it happened! Duran kod him in both the rematches!
If Duran can't beat him, nobody can. I think Duran can beat him, but he won't have an easy time of it.
True, but in the classic 15 round distance, Duran finds him and grinds him...wearing Lomo down to a nub and finishes him off by 13 or 14.
Well Salido was above the weight limited and had a ref that allows him to mug and foul Lomo. If they re-match is it even a question?
So a fighter with a grand total of 10 wins, and only 5 fights at 130 let alone zero at 135 against a guy that decimated the 135 division for years with a ferocity seldom seen - ever. A guy 63-1 when he departed 135, his only loss proven excusable by two dominant victories thereafter. A proven monster over 15 rounds with wins over superb lightweights such as Buchanan and De Jesus. A guy who then went to 147 and did amazing things. I think i'll go out on a limb and side with Duran on this one. Lomachenko is an undoubted talent but i want to see a helluva lot more before getting too carried away.
I like Lomachenko - but his is a story in the making. And, as already pointed out, it is little past the opening chapters. He's an exciting talent, with an eye-catching style and we can all hope he does well - now and in future. The Garcia bout, if and when it happens, is a must-see and will be, by far, Lomachenko's biggest test to date. Duran? Sorry but, as it stands, Loma has no chance at 135 - none.
