Cheeseman vs Jones

It's a joke hearn had him fight trash and then puts him in with a tough guy who is by no means a shot fighter he has his up coming stars like that trash can Conor Benn and his throwing a talented guy levels above the level his ever fought and if he wins he will say he knew cheeseman would win but if he gets knocked out or beat he doesn't care he still has the likes of benn to hype up

 

I think Ted Cheeseman dominates and wins by 12 round decision. Cheeseman has a nice jab, good head movement and decent movement speed. I think we'll see cheeseman let carson throw shots early, conserve energy and catch him on the counter. Carson Jones got his ears boxed off in the second fight against Kell Brook. Kell just spammed the jab and it was easy. I feel like Cheeseman does the same, maybe not quite as impressive but still a good performance.

Carson might win a few rounds due to his experience, but I don't see him winning more than 3 rounds to be honest. Ted Cheeseman by decision 9-3.

Benn gets a bit more time to develop because of his name.

I suppose they believe Cheeseman is ready for the step up. Was Cheeseman a top amateur? I have only taken notice of the kid in the last 12 months tbh

I’ve had the same thoughts, is it a step too soon? But at the same time we see some of these “youngsters” and criticise them for their level opponents and not taking forward steps. So I think it’s a good fight.

I think what people need to realise is that not everyone can remain unbeaten and you can learn as much or if not more from an L against top opposition then you will with a W against utter garbage.

 

Right time for it, I think. Jones is pretty tough and well seasoned but you have to take the plunge eventually. It isn't like Jones is a contender or anything now. He's just a solid vet. I think Cheeseman will take it but he's going to have some really difficult moments, which will be good for his development.

well its seems like he wants the step up for a long time hes been trying to get the British title shot vs james metcalf
but the fight fell through because British board changed it to a final Eliminator after hearn won the purse bid so Hearn was going to lose money so it was canceled

and carson jones was the next best thing with WBC international belt on the line to get a world ranking at this stage of his career is not a bad option

 

Yes difficult bout for Cheeseman, Jones is a known item and probably a calculated risk . Of the top 4 UK 154 ( omitting Brook) Warren has Smith ,Williams and Medcalf and in fairness they apart from the promotional issues are more or just as difficult fights.Moving Cheeseman the WBC silver thingy keeps him busy and should he beat Jones the chance to develop.

 

Big jump up for Ted. I wish him well, he's one of the nicest boys you could hope to meet.

Sometimes it seems there's no happy medium, fighters get called out for fighting men who aren't worth a carrot, and fighters also get called out for taking risks\challenges

Some risks are stupid, but I don't see much wrong with this, tough fight, good luck to him, I'd much rather watch fights where there's a bit of a challenge rather than watching nonsense that you already know the outcome of
