Foster KO8. Tunney hunts and pecks for a few rounds before Bob starts hurting him. The damage snowballs until real openings develop and Foster applies the finishing touch.

Excellent jab thrown from waist height "Beltin Bob" is my favourite LVY.

Sheriff Bob was always an incredibly hard guy to outbox. His height, reach, jab and his tremendous hand speed and punching power made him extremely difficult to beat for a guy with Gene Tunney's style. I would give a guy like Qawi or even someone like Matt Franklin - Saad Muhammad more chance of beating Foster as he always had a pretty ordinary beard. Maybe someone like the old Mongoose Moore could manage to weather the storm and catch Foster with a big punch as he was a very crafty customer. I reckon Ezzard Charles probably had the beard, smarts and ability to catch up with Foster but it would be no picnic. Mike Spinks v Foster is also an intriguing dream match up.

    Cheers All.

Tunney beats him in a once sided boxing lesson.
Hands and feet way too fast, too skilled, too smart, and too slick.

He will pepper with damaging combos early and then go for the kill when the opening appears.
    Tunney KO 9

Lmao at nostaligists who can’t see one of their childhood heros lose, even to a guy who dismantled a dangerous HW Elite legend Jack Dempsey twice.

But ho ho ho, Foster has a few inches of reach on Tunney, and I saw his fights as a kid, it’s over!

    Wtf.

You’re picking a guy who might not even beat Tom Heeney, who got beat up by Jones, lost to Mina and Folley, over a guy who was undefeated minus a Greb loss, and who dismantled one of the hardest most ferocious HW fighters in history twice, and YOURE asking ME if I’m serious? Lmfao.

Let’s not even get into the fact that Tunney is light years ahead in speed, mobility, positioning, angles, combination punching, footwork, awareness, and poise.

Did you eat cotton candy as a kid while watching Foster fight? Asking me if I’m serious...

Personally I wasn’t alive when either Tunney nor Foster were fighting. What sentiment?

    I sense projection:

Curious, how old were you when you saw Bob Foster fighting?

The contention that a wrung out Dempsey was some amazing heavyweight phenom provides much mirth.

Let's get the facts straight here... At THAT stage in his career, Dempsey was BY NO MEANS one of the "hardest most ferocious HW fighters in History". He wasn't close to that, and many HW's throughout history could've beaten Dempsey by that stage in his career. Nice try though.

You listed a whole bunch of attributes that are really one in the same... part and parcel of each other. Mobility and footwork go hand in hand. Positioning and Angles, same thing. Was it that hard to find stuff that Tunney is better at, that you felt the need to list the same thing under the guise of a different word?

I have no issue with somebody picking Dempsey, it was your OUTLANDISH claim that Tunney would beat Foster with ease and this was a non fight that got me and others laughing at you. Literally laughing at you.

I don't think its absurd to think Tunney could beat Foster and possibly stop him, he hit a lot harder than some imagine and he surely could box with the best of them.Foster had that trailing foot in a bucket kind of Norton style he would find it difficult to corner Gene.imo.

Yeah maybe Tunney via UD. If he got up from Dempsey's shots, he likely could survive Foster's.
