I think Selby has the same problem as Kell Brook, and that's his body has outgrown the division by the time he gets the big fights he craves in his respective division. In saying that unless making weight gets alot worse for this fight I still fully expect him to beat Warrington, but not as easy as he would have done if he never struggled so bad making the weight.
Selby by a wide decision. Warrington sells the tickets though so wouldnt be surprised with a controversial decision for a rematch.
Its a funny one. The weight is a big issue here. I think both are too big for 126 and not just Selby....for me /selby is a lot better though - hard not to see Lee winning this easily enough. 116-112 sorta thing....
I've always felt Selby wins, but I don't feel it will be the mismatch some expect it to be. Warrington will win some rounds based on activity.
Warrington beat barry twicw in the ams. Theres nothing to suggest the outcome would be any different now. Im not as sold on selby as most, whilst he is decent hes nothing special. Also you would have to define your term 'skill'. Hes skilled at controling distance and keeping the lead hand in the opponents face. He does well in defence with his feet but thats about it. How skilled would he be against an opponent bigger with longer arms than him? How skilled is he in mid and short range both defensivly and offensivly? Carl frampton is skilled i would say. I just dont rate selby like a lot seem to do. I agree he is good but like i say..hes not special. I do agree with the rest of ur post tho twenty. Josh is a decent all rounder hes got a lot of good attributes but nothing that stands out. Something similar to burns or crolla. Josh is really confident about this fight thats why hes chased selby down and forced a mand. Selby is a confidence fighter, this is going to be a battle of wills imo. Warrington win. Maybe he stops lee in late rds
For a along time I felt underwhelmed by Selby - feeling that his "skills"was mostly just a case of a guy taking advantage of being freakishly big/long for a 126lber. But lately he has grown on me - possibly because he is such a nice guy....I dunno he just has grown on me. Im backing him to outbox JW with some ease. Also he is all wrong for Frampton...and I worry for Carl cos if they both win their next fights - likely they cant avoid fighting in the summer 2018.
How do u know hes a nice guy? he didnt come accross very nice when he was stood over swifty giving it the come on and swifty was unconscious. At the time i gave him a squeeze thinking , maybe just a bit of bravado. Once hes realised what hes done, hell make sure he doesnt do it again. Then in the very next fight v simpson he did it again. I know this is fighting but i dont like that kind of stuff. Lee wasnt nice guy at them times
He's lucky one of Stephens brothers never jamp in ring and chinnrd him for it. If my brother was boxing and was lying down knocked out and his opponent was shouting, taunting him I would belt them.
Selby is massive at the weight but Warrington isn't. It' been a few years but wen he boxed our Chris he only put 3-4 lbs after the day b4 weigh in. He hasn't changed much but I'd guess he Wud come in on fight night between 9st7 and 9st9. I've always been surprised Selby has passed the check weigh in the next day with the ibf.
I know of all the sanctioning bodies he could fight under the IBF is the one without doubt makes it hardest for him. If I was Warrington and I had enough spare weight come check weight I would eat a cake in front of him before I re weighed in, one way of getting under his skin.
