Danny Williams fight against Hari Miles last night

Im assuming the fight was with larger gloves than normal as Miles said on FB that Williams was asking for 10oz gloves to be worn and im assuming that would be the used 10oz gloves you get at a white collar show.

I've worn them and there's not a lot of padding left in those gloves

Danny Williams is in my top 10 British heavyweights of all time. Ive met him numerous times and honestly he is one of the nicest guys you could meet. A true fighting man and a true family man.

So upsetting to see him in this state, but what can you do? He has stated numerous times he is only fighting to pay the bills etc, but he also loves fighting, its all he knows.

As a fan would you keep going to his fights and keep supporting, or would you take a step back?

 

Danny's not doing it for the money mate, he has mortgages paid off on three London properties and kids are privately schooled etc...he is just completely addicted to boxing and can't give it up.

When people give their lives to a sport, they should have support when they eventually have to stop. Too often we see sportspeople in general not just boxers get into trouble after their career's are over. Sad to see.

 

I've seen interviews with him, and he's been asked why he's doing it, and his reply has always been money orientated. He states he has bills to pay and school fees ect. I'm half inclined to think if he had good money he wouldn't be doing it. Its all he knows and he couldn't make the same money as easy doing something else however little it is !

 

He can't be getting much fighting at that level

 

He can't be earning much.Got flights etc.He could earn £200 a night as a celeb doorman,surely.Only thing I can think of is there offering a good bit for his name.Sad

 

How much you reckon he gets, couple grand ??

 

I could never support him under these circumstances, it really saddens me.

 

Imo he will not get that maby if his fighting a top prospect who's promoter wants that name on his fighters record

 

I have meet him once many yesrs ago and agree top bloke. The amount of time he took speaking to everyone who wanted to talk to him and play fighting and mucking around with kids there was gr8. I remember a few years ago he was training to be personal security to celebs don't know what happened there as thought he would have been ideal doing that. Very sad to see he's still boxing hope he retires asap and lives a healthy happy live.

 

Apparently all his money is tied up in propriety of which he has a lot of in London so he is worth a lot.

But he fights for day to day money so to speak.

 

Should sell the London properties he don't stay in and buy loads of houses in North of England and rent them out and he will be sorted.

 

I don't think he will be getting that tbh. Prob anything between 1,000 to 1,500 quid I would say.

I have always thought that Danny wasn't the strongest mentally..if he had a stronger mind he would of went further in my opinion...he would crack under pressure.
