Are there any fighters in history you think could beat a prime Roy Jones?

I actually think Dwight Muhammad Qawi also has a shot against Jones @ 175. People forget just how good he was at his best. A more defensive, counter punching version of Joe Frazier. Would have mauled Jones Jr.

    That's right.

    I agree with you.

I don't understand the mandatory issue though. Can you elaborate.

    Why?

He got heavily criticised, and he was extremely frustrated that he couldn't get the Hopkins rematch.

after ever fight hbo would give a list of possible opponents for his next fight. a few times a split screen interview with Roy and Hopkins. yet the next opponent was never any of the guys listed. hell never even someone most had heard of.

Those are dream fights. Prime Jinx vs Jones Jr at LHW, what a match that would be. I don't think you could say confidently who would win. Spinks had such a good jab trying to imagine how Roy would fight Spinks, well I think Roy would just use a lot of lateral movement staying out of range of that jab, and trying to surprise Spinks with looping overhand rights from outside Spinks range. Just thinking about that fight is fascinating. These are all pick em fights OK, we're talking about some of the top LHWs in history.

    Give me some examples.

The Hopkins fight couldn't be made because he demanded $10m or no fight.

Roy wasn't willing to go to Germany for Dariusz, and Dariusz wasn't willing to go to the U.S. for Roy.

Yes, Roy fought a few low level mandatories like every fighter has to.

Yes, he also fought keep busy fights against lowly opposition like every fighter does.

If you were to analyse Roy's career, you would however note that he did try and make the biggest fights, and during his LHW reign, he did fight the majority of the top 10 ranked fighters.
