he first put on a pair of gloves at 18. Why the hell would he sparring with LISTON when he first put on gloves?

Well, I don't really think anyone could trade punches with Foreman. His power and chin combined might be the best all time.

But I think Tyson would engage Foreman and win, big speed differences plus Tyson had the great power ano good chin. Vitality, Louis and Marciano are other fighters who I think would beat Foreman in what would basically be toe to toe fights.

That's a cracking post and I pretty much agree with everything you've written there.

I'd say Lewis could hit harder than Lyle (but Lyle sure did have a sweet right hand). I also think the two losses Lewis suffered by TKO/KO are almost always relied upon far too much by his detractors. Lewis was indeed able to hold up against powerful shots - and to think otherwise is misguided.

Like you suggest, Lewis would see Foreman coming and, IMO, Lewis had great punch selection, when it came down to a scrap.

Tyson is tailor made for George Foreman, ko 2. Joe Louis simply cannot get into a firefight with a much bigger and far more powerful fighter like Foreman. Louis came forward,,,straight ahead. Vitali beat who ?he's not exactly a mover ....and as for Marciano, he'd never get out of the first round alive. Giving up a foot in reach, 5 inches in height and almost 40 pounds in weight to a man that hit MUCH harder and was far stronger .And George had a far,far better jab to boot, I'm always amazed when a boxing fan even considers it plausible that Marciano could beat Foreman. The only possible man who might go to the center of the ring and go mano a mano with George is Sonny Liston. Somebody is going to back up and the clash to find out who would be apocalyptic.

    Liston, yes.

    Not Lewis.

For years, I had them jointly at 3, after Ali and Louis, in terms of greatness . Recently, I have Lennox at 3 and George at 4.

I would favour Lewis to win a UD by a very slight margin. But if I was told his game plan was to go toe-to toe with Big George, I would lean towards a Foreman victory, and by KO.

Loads of guys would have a puncher's chance and could win the odd fight, but Foreman is gonna win the vast majority of the time.

Joe Louis could pull it off, and I'd favour him to do so. Nobody else stands in the kill zone and beats Foreman though IMO.
Joe has the speed, timing, precision and punch placement. And he operated best when he was in that sort of mid-range zone, both defensively, and of course offensively.

And he has the intangibles too - he won't get nervous when he's hurt and he won't get over excited when he has Foreman hurt.

The best chances for me, are likely Liston and Lewis. Not that I'd favor them, but if I had to bet on someone, it would likely be them. I like Louis, but unlike some here, I don't think it ends well for Joe.

Tua wasn't as physical as prime G.Foreman ( Not even close tbh). But if what you say is true about Ibeabuchi's physical strength. That would be the key to fighting Foreman toe to toe, blow for blow. Being able to not get manhandled.
