Whats the case with the height? According to some websites Groove is 1.82cm and Eubank Jr. 178/180cm. So the height difference is minimal here. Eubank Jr. also has greater reach (184cm vs. 183cm). My thoughts for the fight are favoring Eubank Jr. I do not think Groves is that good and sharp like most of his fans are thinking. He fighted a lot of solid names like Froch, Jack, Bute, Murray, Chudinov and of course he has power but let's be honest here: Froch was definitely out of his prime and won both fights (luckily of course, but Groves was not able to defeat Froch past his prime). The SD vs Jack was a bit too much. I think this was a MD at least, more UD. Jack could have knocked out Froch in the first round but was a bit too passive after Groves went down. Bute is a bit overrated i think because he was undefeated till the day he fought Groves. He mostly fought some second class opponents till that day. Murray solid but also out of his prime in middle 30s. The TKO vs Chudinov looked really good but Chudinov is one of those guys who was promising talent and of course he is still a very good fighter but he never defeated anyone that is significant apart from Felix Sturm. His record is looking better, yes, but i think it is a bit misleading here. Eubank Jr. is the more flexible fighter, he has an unreal upper and lower body movement and also has fast and powerful hands. The fight vs Yildirim looked really good, improved in all of his abilities. His stamina is maybe one of the best i have ever seen so far. Also he has to prove that in a fight that goes more than 7-8 rounds. Bu i have no doubt about this. I think Eubank Jr. will handle the power of Groves very well. He already fought some big punching guys like O'Sullivan, Quinlan or even Yildirim if we call him a big puncher (not so sure but still a tough guy to fight). And Groves has a major weakness and that is his defense and Eubank Jr. did well vs such fighters in the past. He is smart enough to outbox Groves and he is strong enough to knock him down. I think it is on his gloves to win this. My pick: Eubank Jr. TKO 8-12!
There's a lot of truth in this, its just unfortunate his nob jockey dad has pretty much muddied the waters with his snobbish, anal, white aristocracy wannabe attitude. You see him with kids and he comes across as a normal fella and very approachable !
Are you drunk? Jack could have kayoed Froch?! They never fought. Groves fought Bute?! Did he? Wtf I think you are getting fighters mixed up...
I'm think CEJ is sharper, fitter & hungrier. Like BJS says though, if u can box CEJ you can beat him, fight him & you'll lose. Groves needs to fight smart. Use the jab & pace himself. Don't get drawn into a slugfest....
Groves all day long. people go on about Jnr's power...where is it? He hits most of his opponents around 20 times & they are either standing, wobbling or think "I've had enough" & lie down, majority have been hand picked "Has beens" & quite a few "Never were's( or likely to ever been)" .He is like his Dad in so much as he likes to fight in bursts, thats how Billy Joe worked him & never let him rest, not because of stamina issues though, no Billy worked out how to take away Jnr Rhythm...Groves will wreck him!
Hmm"Brit-Level" sounds like a put down... Froch practically walked through the super six ,which were predominantly american fighters until he met Ward, mainly due to his Iron chin! Froch v Groves 1, Froch went down like he'd been shot...Jnr better have his Dad's chin!
Depends on what groves has left! He has had some hard nights and looks a bit shopworn.interesting fight I think Jr will do it late!
I tend to be someone who once an opinion is formed, it sticks, I'm a fairly good judge of people, and there's something that CEJ gives off that bothers me, I don't like him at all, as a person, I see something sinister in him that I don't like, perhaps its that mean streak you referenced. I like mean streaks too, as long as its got a competitive conqueror mentality behind it as well, that goes away once a fight is over, but with CEJ, I think he's just a bad guy that likes hurting people. I've always liked Groves, and same here, I rooted against him both time with Froch, but aside from his occasionally obnoxious behavior, deep down, he seems like a good guy, most of his arrogance seems to stem from insecurities & self doubt, he's overcompensating, that's probably not the case with Jr.
I'm a weirdo because I have an obsessive dislike of certain fights? People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones James, you're one of the biggest weirdo creepily obsessive fanboys on the site. You man love blinds you to the shortcomings of every fighter who strikes your fancy. If you think this is a gimme, then you'll be far below me in no time. You have your fingers crossed and are hoping and praying its a gimme, more than you actually believe that.
You may well be right , thinking back to the Blackwell fight where his father was seriously in the ring in front of Jnr & if I recall Jnr shouted " Enough" & his father stepped back...
