Scoring Ali vs Norton 3

Some of those rounds could have should have been scored even. Then the right man would have won the title.

 

Look at Ali hanging his head after the last round. Many scribes/judges/ringsiders can 'score' a fight but one of the combatant's reaction clearly speaks volumes. Lastly: the old cliché, "you have to take the fight to a champion in order to win". IMO, Kenny took the fight to Muhammad and bested him in a close one.

 

Not a bad card. I think Norton won it, 9 rounds to 6. You will have a hard time giving Ali more than six rounds and the punch stats show Norton won by perhaps a bigger margin.

 

you heard that alot back at that time. They wanted Ali to remain champion. This wasnt even the worst of that era.

 

I honestly felt norton won all 3

 

I can see virtually no way to score this fight for Ali, unless you sleep with an Ali onezee on at night.

 

I thought Young beat Ali more clearly than Norton and I thought he beat Norton more clearly than Ali.

 

Famous Ali quote post Fight 3: "That is the last time I'm fighting that "turkey" (i.e. Norton).

 

A lot of the rounds were pretty close but I consistently make it 9-6 to Ken.

Ali has always been my favourite boxer but he was very lucky that night.
