Could Michael Spinks have beat the ageing Lewis?

The Lewis that struggled against vitali Klitschko against the Spinks that beat Holmes first time around ?
Could the awkward style of Spinks have Lewis slipping behind on the cards here.. Or is Spinks a easy ko victim to Lennox ?
Lewis would probably take the former light heavy lightly here ,could this be a mistake on his part ?

Spinks MAYBE could grind out a win, but I think Lewis catches him and that's all she wrote

The odds are massively stacked against spinks beating even this Lewis. The only way he gets a chance is taking Lennox further and further in to the fight by what ever means, using speed advantage and the herky jerky style to try to offset Lewis. It's a big ask of course against the power punching of Lewis , and it would be a massive upset spinks could do it .

It's possible. Lewis would probably train even less for a relative midget like Mike Spinks and come fight night, if he didn't take him out fast, he'd pay for it while gassing down the stretch as the chicken nuggets of Christmas past caught up with him. You'd still have to favour Lewis, of course, but Spinks might be able to pull it off.

Old Holmes was a better match for him.

I would probably say the same if that version of Holmes, beat that version of Lewis.

It's like I said ,odds against the little guy but..stranger things have happened in boxing. It may not be the best example but Chris Byrd v vitali .The Small man besting the big guy .

Spinks has very little at Heavyweight to draw from, for a H2H comparison (a record of 4-1). He beat a jaded Holmes twice and, personally, I didn't feel he won either of the bouts convincingly (especially the rematch). He avoided genuine contenders until Tyson, the result of which was a foregone conclusion.

Suffices to say that Spinks, as a Heavyweight, didn't impress me and I don't think he would bring an offensive pace that could have troubled even the older and disinterested Lewis. Oppositely, I actually see Lewis taking him out of there quite early.

We've never seen 'shot' Lewis in the ring. That Lennox from Vitali fight most likely beats Spinks.

However, we don't know how would Lennox look in the ring in his 40s

I wouldn't count Spinks completely out. He has zero room for mistakes tho. Lewis was very heavy and cumbersome by this time. Spinks plan would be to hide for 3-4 rounds then try build some points. Being over 12 would disadvantage him. You'd favor Lewis with his immense size and power.

    Good points john....

I feel at heavyweight tyson aside....spinks lived on one rule....if in doubt move away and out...that herky jerky dance and jive...prod and poke was annoying to some...my grandpa erskine almost wept with frustration..."why doesnt that yellow bellied coward stand there and fight like a man" i vividly recall him screaming before talking about ali/frazier/norton/foreman and what a sissy spinks was. "He aint nobodys damn sissy pa" my father explained to grandpa erskine " hes never taken a damn licking his whole life, hes gonna catch holmes down in the bread basket, slow the old man down and drown him "....

Now i can't help but be guilty of rating spinks demolition of the giant powerpuncher cooney as the most underrated win of the last 30 years or so...

Lewis is obviously a different beast a totally different one...but he avoided byrd and toney...has he fought anyone like a spinks? Spinks had a good defence, imo the power to hurt lewis....the ability to have a lead.but ...i just can't see him getting caught by a right uppercut and getting brutallly kayoed in 8-9
