The losses to Holyfield still irk him, he believes he lost to a drugs cheat and he has a point because he's from an era that likely wasn't on the PED's just yet. Now I'm not singling out Holyfield because i believe the vast majority of fighters in his era used PED's. Qawi was a great fighter no doubt about that.

I'm going to make a effort to watch all of his fights I can. Absolutely love his style and how he switches from defence to offence is so beautiful

My favorite fighter. You should check him out against Jerry Martin, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Mike Rossman, or Leon Spinks.

His slip and counter game was immense. A guy who really made his style and stature work to his advantage and would have been a tough nights work for any 175er in history at his best. Pity that he didn't keep himself in shape at 175 post-Spinks and gear himself up for another crack at Mike, he was undersized and underwhelming to me at cruiser, fantastic effort against Holy first time round notwithstanding. His effort here and in the rematch were worlds apart.

Well who am I to critique a boxer as great as Holyfield, but here goes:

He looked amateurish in that clip. Like he was playing wack-a-mole. He’d throw a hook and Qawi would duck (not even using particularly good form) and then as his head came back up he would try to catch him with another hook at its zenith but Qawi would go straight back down. Now that’s a fair mistake to make 2x, maybe 3. But 8? At some point you gotta think “Hey?!! Maybe I should switch to an uppercut.”

Anyway, I do love a good clip of evasive head movement. But even better, I like when they use proper form in the head movement so that it sets up perfect shots. Like, if you are going to go under a hook, might as well rotate your hip on the way down and turn it into a crushing body blow.

If anything, the fact that Holyfield was carrying 30 pounds of muscle less than he ended up with, indicates that he was clean in the first fight. By the second fight he had noticeably gotten bigger and was manhandling Qawi. Maybe thats what hes upset about.

Everyone was on PEDs back then and everyone is still using anything they can get away with now. They were widely available since the 60s, medically tested, tried and proven, werent vilified until the 90s(after the cold war was over, what a coincidence!) and werent really tested for in boxing until the 2000s. Why would anyone with the ambition and competitiveness of a pro athlete in a sport as ruthless as boxing NOT take them with all the money on the line?
Growth hormone is still not detectable in urine and its detection time in blood is well under 24 hours. Let that fact sink in.
