I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves with Gassiev

First of all: master class performance from a classy guy who is both a technician and a puncher. I loved how he landed that uppercut at will. Gassiev has a great future.

But let's not ovestate this. Dorticos is a hard punching but pretty basic and somewhat inexperienced guy. We have seen these kinds of exposures of hard-punching but basic fighters before: Calzaghe-Lacy, Barrera-Nasem, etc.

Suddenly there are threads asking how Gassiev would do against Joshua and saying that he has a good chance of knocking out Usyk. Usyk will be a good fight, but the man has taken professional punches from Medzidhov and Breidis...he's not gettting knocked out and is still a wide favorite to me.

Once again, great fight and congratulations.

Usyk was lucky to get the W against Briedis, no way is he a wide favourite.

He will have to go through hell in this fight because we all know 1 thing to be true that Gassiev can take his shots easy.
WSB might have no head gear but I'm pretty sure they still wear pillow gloves and I am certain Gassiev hits harder than Briedis.

I don't know what's going on but I feel like a fool for missing out on this tournament.

Last week Usyk was king, now it's Gassiev. Dorticos got his chin checked in a great fight from what I hear and I missed everything. I will try to YouTube it all before the Super Bowl.

If everyone is right then Gassiev vs Usyk is the fight to make next.

Lol. He won 8 rounds against Briedis. It wasn't close and that is not just my opinion: Something like 65% of the people on here had him winning. I don't know what fight the rest of you were watching.

Dude there were threads about Usyk beating Joshua and Wilder and you were down with it so don't get butt hurt about someone saying a guy you favor will get his ass kicked because he stands a chance to be beaten everytime he fights.

I'm not coming at you or anything but this post sounds like you are man worshipping and Usyk is only a man just like Gassiev, Joshua and Wilder.

I have seen Usyk Vs. Briedis two times, Usyk won that fight fairly easily.................Usyk Vs. Gassiev should be a real war, but Usyk will be more defensive against Gassiev, Lomachenko, Sr. will be training him, I think he will win by UD, but it will be pure hell for both fighters............Usyk is hard to hit, esp. when he is facing a hard puncher, plus he has a really good chin................this fight is interesting, it's a shame it will be boycotted by USTV! Boycotted only by America!!!

Check the date on the AJ-Gassiev thread, I did that months ago, not because he KO'd Dorticos. And the moment this match was over, I stuck to my guns and said Usyk still UD's him, and not because I'm being loyal to Usyk, but because while Gassiev showed a few more wrinkles in his game, he didn't show any that tells me he can beat Usyk, Oleksandr fights nothing like Dorticos.

    Usyk is obviously ducking Gassiev.

Usyk vs Gassiev is the type of fight that could go either way, yet still have a relatively clear winner (I feel like I'm saying this a lot with CW fights recently). Interestingly, both fighters had their hands full early in their fights, but made adjustments and turned the tide to pull out the win. It's going to be fascinating seeing what both fighters do to try to impose their gameplans on the other; we might be in for a real back and forth technical fight, albeit one fought at high intensity and passion. I'm really stoked for this fight more than I've been for any CW fight in years (and that more or less means any boxing match period). Any one who willingly misses this needs to reappraise exactly what they watch this sport for,

Gassiev showed he boxes off the backfoot as well as he can bang. His workrate and stamina is excellent, his defense looks quite basic but very effective. Both him and Usyk use that high guard as their main form of protection but Gassievs just looks tighter and more difficult to penetrate.

Gonna be a super competitive final but have to slightly favor Gassiev.
