Does Lebedev deserve a shot at the undisputed title?

I’m in two minds about this. Lebedev has always been a warrior and has thrilled fans with some fight of the year contenders so I could see that argument being made.

On the flip side, he shouldn’t even have kept his belt because he lost to Gassiev. Not to mention he chose not to enter the tournament and allowed those guys to do all the heavy lifting.

I personally had Lebedev scraping the Gassiev fight, so Gassiev wins then I wouldn’t mind him getting a shot but if Usyk wins he deserves a chance to fight a voluntary as he has been on the road the whole tournament.

Depends what he does in the meantime. He should fight one of the losers in the summer.

 

Yeah great idea, maybe Briedis vs Dorticos and winner fights Lebedev, the winner of that fights the undisputed champ.

 

You don’t mind that he only put his IBF belt up for that Gassiev fight.

I think at Leb's age it would have been too much wear and tear to have entered the tournament. I don't mind seeing him take on the winner as I think he's deserved that right with his gruelling battles over the years; and it's not like he's some pretender waiting on the sidelines to pick off the winner. He's a warrior through and through.

I wouldn't expect him to win however. I think his best days are behind him.

 

Honestly? I don't remember that fight being close at all. Gassiev clearly outworked and hurt him.

 

I can get with that as well. Lebedev vs anyone in the last four would be a barnburner. I'd prefer to see him against Briedis or Dorticos, as I think Usyk would outpoint him fairly one-sidedly, and we've already seen him vs Gassiev (be up for a rematch though).

 

I think he rather doesn't deserve, Lebedev passed his peak, and the fight against Gassied or Usyk would be a mismatch. Anyway Lebedev lost his belt after fight with Gassiev and only undercover games allowed him to save his champion status. And Lebedev was also invited to the tournament.

 

He shouldn’t even have had the belt, how do you keep your belt when you lose and it’s not a catch weight fight. I think a situation where took on one of the semi finalists of the competition would be cool with me. I don’t think he deserves a straight shot for beating Mark Flanagan.

 

I thought he beat Gassiev clearly and was surprised to see the decision go the other way. if Gassiev beats usyk I think he should try to beat lebedev for real
