Going with the Prime "Snakeman" in both cases. 11 successful title defenses. Went many rounds with Arquello, though he lost twice to him. Just a notch below AA in his prime at SuperFeather.
Oddly enough, I am right now wearing a t-shirt that has Arguello-Escalera 1 from 40 years ago this past January on it. I collect boxing t-shirts and found this and Arguello-Pryor also. Shows fight action on both. Cool
Robert, I sure was a fan of the Snake Man back then.....he was entertaining a lot like Jorge Paez was a few years later, except he was a better fighter than Paez.
I think the fight withLockridge could be electric and fight of the year type stuff if we could create it. I am likely in the minority, but I think Lockridge would take this fight. About 2 weeks ago I rewatched Lockridge vs Pedroza I so maybe I am still salty about that decision lo these many years later lol. So while I do think Lockridge would trouble Escalera and even win the fight I have less confidence he can get the decision on the cards This content is protected
Would you recommend any particular Lockridge or Escalera performances? I feel like I've mostly just seen their losses (and Rocky's Mayweather ko).
The Lockridge vs Pedroza fight was at Featherweight. Escalera was a SuperFeatherweight. But like my compadres said.....no argument here regarding various opinions on these excellent fighters vs each other. 1983-04-24 : Eusebio Pedroza 126 lbs beat Rocky Lockridge 122½ lbs by UD in round 15 of 15 Location: San Remo, Liguria, Italy Referee: Ove Ovesen 146-145 Judge: Juan Maio 147-146 Judge: Yong-Soo Chung 147-142 WBA Featherweight Title
