Most of the fighters on that list are over 195. You dont need an alt to be stupid, im sure your regular account is just as bad.
Henry,Jackson,Charles,Walcott,Patterson Johannson,Satterfield,Moore . All routinely under 195lbs . Machen and Folley were under and above on many occasions. That leaves just Baker and Layne.
And Valdes. Don’t forget big boy Valdes. He was a whopper. Nino would have been something in the colour TV era too. Big guy. A poster boy for 1980s sized heavyweights. I could have thrown in Hein ten Hoff, joe Baksi, Johnny Holman, mike dejohn, Heinz Neuhaus, Karel sys, Alex miteff, coley Wallace. Young Jack Johnson all world rated “big strong boys”. For those with an extra fetish for 200lb plus musclemen out there on the 1950s circuit I could name some more too that were on the fringes of world calsss like Charlie Powel, Cleveland Williams, Howard King, Ernie Cab, Embrell Davidson ...I could go on and on naming 1980s sized heavyweights in the 1950s. But Layne and Jackson did pip the magic 200 number at times too. Whatever difference that would make..
Young Layne made that weight, leaving Baker. Sounds like a proper Cruiser-Devision. Why not leave it like that? Theres a bunch of terrific imaginary fights left, coupling this fighters with moderns cruisers. Nevertheless, the classics get clogged with garbage like that, idolazing ancient heroes. The last thing i saw was Max Schmeling - A. Joshua. Does it realy have to be that way?
This is the kind of example of bias without any of the facts to back it up. Please read my last post son..
Layne, Jackson, Baker, Valdes, Walcott, Ingo, Machen, Folley... all fought multiple times over 195, troll.
This conversation just goes to prove that the 50's didn't have the sort of athletic giants that came to dominate the division soon after. A different breed of cat took over. Anyone denying that is just burying their head deeper in the sand.
And where did that different kind of “cat” come from? And what (other than not bothering to watch film of a single one of them) gives you any reason to believe these 50s guys were not comparable to non champions of any other era? nino Valdes Bob baker Joe Louis Hein ten Hoff joe Baksi Johnny Holman mike dejohn Heinz Neuhaus Karel sys Alex miteff coley Wallace Young Jack Johnson For those with an extra fetish for 200lb plus musclemen out there on the 1950s circuit I could name some more too that were on the fringes of world calsss like Charlie Powel, Cleveland Williams, Howard King, Ernie Cab, Embrell Davidson
Im stopping this one right here with a hardy F*ck You. I've been watching the sport since the late 70's, looking at tape since the early 90's. Done.
Perhaps there was a reason there wasn't any "athletic giants" then? Can you think of the reason? Its quite simple really.
