Could McCallum have been the one to bring down Golovkin?

If McCallum were around now in the middle s ,the one that beat Graham, Kalambay , Watson ,could he beat the present day version of GG?
Mike had boxing smarts. ,great Chin and wicked body punch .So 12 rounds it is .

GGG obviously has slipped some. Would go with prime Body Snatcher
vs Today's GGG, in a SD upset.

Agree with that ,in fact I'd say Mike would give prime GGG his toughest fight .There s no way Golovkin just bangs his way through MM ,he would be tested like never before .Mike had his down days but I think against this guy he'd be on top form. But he definitely bests GGG of now , hurting him to that body like never before.

Alot of classic guys beat current golovkin. He hasnt slipped alot, but enough for good but not great fighters like Jacobs and canelo to give him hell.
canelo is a pretty good fighter but great? No. He just has superstar looks and great management.
Jacobs isnt very good at all. His skills are average, he just happens to be very big, a good puncher and in shape. Similar to jermain taylor with more power but less speed and no jab.

McCallum would outwork him and use his speed advantage. Golovkin has mentally either lost or never had the ruthlessness to really go after McCallum and use his power advantage.
Golpvkin has a very good jab but so does McCallum.
McCallum actually has the better bodywork if you look at GGGs last 2 fights
Golovkin hits harder and is stronger, mike is faster and has a better defense.
Prime 4 prime its a great fight. Prime mccallum beats current golovkin 9-3

I would definitely pick McCallum to outwork, outsmart, and outpoint GGG.

I think GGG, who will be 36 in April would have enough to take the points win. He still has a fine jab and durability, even if he has slowed down a bit.

I assume we are talking about a prime McCallum? Would still pick GGG on points. If we are talking about a prime GGG, age 27-33, he might win via late round TKO.

The McCallum being proposed here would be 34 & 35 if I'm not mistaken. About same age as Golovkin and he had already showed signs of slipping with the Kalambay loss.

McCallum has became the most romanticized fighter on this forum since Tommy Morrison. At least he's not a heavyweight.

MaCallum who was never stopped in any fight from junior middle to cruiser and would be at no risk whatsoever of being stopped by Golovkin. He just can't impose his power on elite fighter's and that was evidently clear against Jacobs and Canelo -two guys who who are not as good as MaCallum and would be both beaten badly by him.

Golovkin is simply to slow to outbox Mike and would be riddled with counters and body shots until his steam runs out.

Just because a fighter was never stopped doesn't automatically equate to them, you know, actually being impossible to stop.

You are aware Julian Jackson rattled McCallum to his core, yeah?

Very very good point and one that frustrates myself at times too.

E.G. If Duran and Hearns never fought 99% of people would scoff at anyone picking Hearns via stoppage, let alone KO, let alone early.

McCallum was also stunned noticably by Curry twice from memory. Contrary to popular opinion he was not immune to being ko'd imo.

Didn't foot off the gas Roy Jones knock him down in his second to last career fight, as well?
