Depends on who you have in your top ten.

The idea that Jack Johnson feared anyone after what he went through and endured to become the fighter he was... Not so sure.

Ali admitted Sonny was the "scariest" guy he ever fought. But strange, Eddie Machen for some reason was not intimidated by Liston, and sought a second fight as a Title shot. Ali used a lot of the Machen tactics in "Clay vs Liston 1", which proved to be successful.

I'd consider a man who will step over that imaginary line of civility that we have in America/society and put a cop head first into a ****ing garbage can is probably a pretty scary man.

NO Johnson lived in an era and time that was rougher for blacks than Liston did he had a mental toughness that allowed him to deal with much more than Liston's stare and personality and he fought under conditions that few could understand

Johnson, like Ali would have laughed at that "intimidation" those guys make guys like Foreman and Liston mental midgets.

It would be interesting to see what happens when Johnson would start flashing that golden smile and talking to Liston, although he probably wouldn't start doing that until he felt he had the bout firmly under control.

Foreman a mental midget? Liston and foreman are not even in the same world in the mental part.foreman was much much tougher mentally and had a much bigger heart

Spot on .Liston may or may not have tried to be the devil in shorts , but it wouldn't have worked against Jack .

Can we have a primary source for this "having to be pushed out of his dressing room to face Jeffries".

I ask because he was talking to John L Sullivan before he entered the ring and during the preliminaries and Sullivan wrote in the next mornings paper he had never seen a fighter so full of confidence!

" Johnson entered the arena at 2pm,he was in the ring at 2.28pm."
"Johnson's then girlfriend Etta Duryea waved at him and he waved back."
"Jack smiled, waved his his hand ,and bowed to the crowd, which included a small sprinkling of his own race.He greeted friends and acquaintances. He was not nervous but seemed happy, calm ,and only semi-serious." Adam Pollack ,
"Jack Johnson The Reign" page 370.

Serious question. Why on earth do you persist with these lies? Lies which can be disproved in a matter of seconds!
