Of course that a prime leonard would better but i think that norris stylistically with his speed always would be a test for leonard

Norris would be awkward but prime Leonard gets to that chin.

At his best Norris was lightning fast and a terrific puncher .. that being said Ray had reach, even more speed and was a better over all fighter .. I see Ray stoping him before ten ..

of course, I was the ONLY one who picked Terry to whip Leonard BEFORE it actually happened

    STYLES

but not only to win the fight but to win BIIIIIIIIG!

Norris with his speed and movement, complicates matters for Leonard.

with his advantages, he was the first fighter that didnt have to let leonard set the tempo, and with his movement, made Leonard, move the way HE wanted him to

and with his hand speed, will beat Ray the vast majority of the time, making Ray try to play catchup which we know is not his game

especially since Norris has the power to put leonard back on his heels

Norris ALWAYS beats leonard. no need for a rematch as Leonard will never want one

I knew Norris was going to beat Ray. Leonard hadn't faced anyone with any real speed during his comeback. I knew that would give him a lot of problems.

Younger Ray might win but Norris had such an aggressive style that, combined with his speed, he might still beat Ray in his prime.

Norris could give the younger Leonard an extremely tough night IMO.Fast hands and in your face attitude would keep sugar on the ropes .But I do see Norris getting caught more frequently as Leonard get s in to his stride. Maybe a late rounds ko from a sugar left hook but one of Rays tougher matches.

    Yes

He would beat the rusty Leonard who was dropped by Kevin Howard in '84.

That was a very mediocre performance by Leonard.

Yes, he beat a declined Leonard.

The prime Leonard who kod Kalue would stop prime Norris.

81 Hearns had speed and movement
81 Hearns set the tempo for a large portion of Leonard/Hearns I
Leonard played catchup successfully in Leonard/Hearns I
Leonard has the power to stop Norris.

If Norris was disciplined like he was in the Simon Brown rematch he
would be very difficult to beat. However TN was a hot head and when
he got hit like fellow talented boxers Holyfield and Meldrick Taylor then
the plan would go out the window. This would happen with SRL and
would be a even fight until it ends Mike McCallum vs Don Curry style.

Tommy had speed and movement but at 145, wasnt as strong as Norris at 154

didnt have the endurance of Norris to stay on his toes

didnt have the ability to tie up opponents when they got uncomfortably close

and didnt possess the lightning quick left counter of Norris

all were key factors in leonard's defeat

btw, I also picked Leonard to defeat Hearns in 1981

    I'm just too good

and for those of you who dont know,, Hagler KO Monzon

    that's fantasy

just look at the actual fight between the two to know that's not even remotely true

Whenever Leonard connected or got Terry in a corner, what did he do? he tied him up - several times. that was like taking time off the clock, a very smart, DISCIPLINED strategy for Norris

the rest of the time, he just beat the hell out of him

If a past his prime lasted the distance with a peak Norris a prime Leonard destroys Norris.

Brown knocked him out. Waters dropped him. Jackson who wasn't fast destroyed him in 2.
Norris simply does not have the chin to withstand a Leonard no matter what he does.
Benitez was fast and Leonard dealt with that.
Hearns hit hard a Leonard dealt with that.
Leonard has the chin in addition to the speed and that will always beat someone who has the speed and a bad chin.

In my opinion Norris has a small shot of beating the Leonard who fought Kalule but I would have Leonard as say a 3-1 on type fave if I was setting a market. Norris did have excellent hand speed and good power but he was an unintelligent fighter with a pretty weak beard.

Leonard does has a height and reach advantage over Norris and if he fought a disciplined fight using his jab and legs I believe he could stop Terry in say round 8-10ish. Norris was always a bit fragile and ill disciplined.

There is no doubt which fighter had a better chin, stamina and overall record. Leonard wins that one in a canter.

Funnily enough both ended their careers very badly. Leonard losing easily to Norris and Camacho while Norris himself was kayoed by the VERY average Keith Mullings and stopped by the mediocre Boudouani.

    Cheers All.

I watched Derrick Kelly- who was a would pro-beat the crap out of a young Norris.
Leonard takes him inside 7 rounds.
And no Terry isn't as fast as a prime Leonard.
Watch Leonard vs Price and tell me Norris is that fast.
