Yeah their amateur system is **** poor in comparison. I think the top amateurs get stipends but nothing like other countries which give their top amateurs salaries or big pay outs for success. I think in the UK you get 28K, then you get access to physio's, nutritionists, top class training facilities. Nicola Adams said she even had cooked meals delivered to meet her nutritional needs.

The difference in how nations now fund the amateur game is why the US amateurs are struggling.

What ward did at 168 is far more impressive to me at least equal to what bhop did at 160

Yes Trinidad is a all time great win & bhop wasnt favored but he still was a WW moving up

Froch & Kessler or top 5 to 10 all time SMW's & ward beat them at their complete peaks

Bika & abraham were extremely strong fighters that no one ever really looked great against or at least werent able to hurt or hit alot

Yes tho bhop is higher on the all time great list but ward had to fight complete tough guys that can take a punch & were awkward or had high skill level so ward had to be very tactical & use old school tricks

Bhop aint doing what he did to simon brown, antwon echels, keith holmes or robert allen to kov, bika, froch, Kessler, or Barrera

And do we not forget about his fight with carl daniels that was a atrocity

But he wasn't fighting a WW moving up. Trinidad was a world champion at 154 and 160 prior to facing Hopkins.

Based on what? H2H Ward demolishes Hopkins.

Hopkins best win is DLH, Trinidad and past prime boozed up Pavlik. Do you understand how bad of an ass kicking Andre Ward gives DLH, Trinidad and boozy Pavlik?

Ward has beaten Froch, Kessler and Kovalev. Legitimate SMW's and LHW's. Not tiny guys. You're ****ing nuts if you think Hopkins has the better resume or would be the favorite to win this.

Ward's victories are in a completely different class of quality than Hopkins.

Who gets just clobbered by Andre Ward. And still his best weight was by far 147. Nobody says he was fighting at WW during that time. It's just he's a natural WW whose best weight is WW.

FACT - Bernard Hopkins was not facing a welterweight moving up when he fought Felix Trinidad. He was facing a fellow middleweight champion in a championship unification bout.

I never disputed that Trinidad didn't hold a MW belt.

The big difference in B Hop & Watd is,,,,,,
Ward has always had officiating bias on his side The vast majority of boxing afficianados do not regard Ward;s :wins" over Kovalev were legitimate
    While
Many believe B Hop beat Calzagh & Taylor twice Nard never got gifts from officials

Spot on B Bomber ! they get that package its not really classed as a salary more of an expense claim
Here is the worry . Boxing maybe pulled from the next Olympics as high lighted on this site this week
This funding would be with drawn immediately if this happened

I think GGG beats the brakes off Allen. Allen had success against Hopkins because he did not expect the roughhouse tactics. You’re right though, Hopkins likely would’ve found his rhythm.
With those conditions in Ecuador, I’m not so sure how GGG would’ve done with Mercado, on that night.

Hopkins was not a MW monster. Despite beating bigger names at 160, albeit fighter’s who came from smaller weights, his better work came in he 2000’s, at LHW.
