1. Usyk, the guy is a good fighter but people on here claim he beats everyone who ever boxed. 2. fury, beat klitchsko in the worst heavyweight title fight ever, now him and his fans claim he's the best boxer to ever live. 3. Billy Joe Saunders, schooled the cement heeled Lemieux and now he's going to school GGG and canelo. 4. Linares, the Venezuelan brit basher has wins over a lot of B level opposition lately yet he is considered a modern day great by many. 5. Wilder, he hasn't fought a live opponent in nearly ten years as a pro. Who you got?
1 - Wilder. Beat one ranked opponent and people herald him as worldbeater. ESPN tried to put him on their p4p list. 2 - Bellew. Made some lists at HW based upon a victory over a chronically injured veteran. 3 - Whyte. #6 on the TBRB list, #7 for Ring. Heavyweight isn't great but he's too high I think. 4 - Saunders. Was really good against Lemi, but people have gotten really carried away. 5 - Thurman. Ranked p4p by some. Hasn't done nearly enough to deserve that.
Usyk Horn Thurman Chocolate Brownie .. only got 4 deep.. brain fart still dont get why people think Spence is overrated.. done nothign to deserve that rap.. isnt brash, wants to fight the best, etc.
There's going to be some awful hot takes in this thread. In no particular order. Whyte (has never looked good) Inoue (don't think his current achievements match the hype but will likely prove me wrong) Wilder (by ESPN) Saunders (he's good but beating flat footed Lemmy has somehow made him GOAT at 160) Paul Smith (**** Paul Smith)
saunders, thurman, wilder, are the three i find to be ridiculously overated and im surprised so many so called boxing fans cant see the writing on the wall, when it comes to these 3. if you think any of these 3 is the best in his division, nevermind all of boxing, then you dont understand what youre watching.
Why the hell is Usyk's name mentioned so many times LOL. @CST80 1st page, already 3-4 mentions. Usyk is one of the best fighters in the sport and has an incredible resume for having 13 fights. Damn haters.
Wilder looks terrible, but as long as he keeps KTFO guys just be touching them, I will keep on picking him. AJ beat a shot Wlad, is generally inexperienced, slow, light hitting and has mediocre skills. Events will prove his reign to be short. I believe he is beatable by any decent HW.
Probably the Usyk thing is based upon people on the forum picking him to beat Joshua. That does seem a bit much at this point. So he's p4p but people still are getting overexcited about him at this point given his actual HW experience. Might find real heavies just don't care when he hits them which would be an utter disaster for any assualt on that weight division. I love Usyk as much as anyone on the forum but I understand the pick.
It's odd, because his resume is incredible for his fight count, he's definitely proving himself on the highest tier of boxing. You have a very small populace of this forum saying he would be competitive at HW (Which is plausible) seeing how many CW's of the past have made it to HW and had great success and we're calling him overrated. Just odd. If that argument really holds water, then almost 90% of the boxers out there worth a damn are overrated. Bud, Spence, Golovkin, Canelo all fit the mold. You won't find a boxer who is correctly rated then.
Wilder clear cut # 1 - not close Bellew - should not be on any top 10 HW lists for defeating an inactive, past prime and injured former contender. (And looking bad while doing so) Fury- just because during his self imposed inactivity - he has taken on this mythical stature as an ATG in recess. (He does possess skill and ability but he needs to get back and ring and prove it) Beterbiev although the hype has slowed on him with his inactivity. Crawford only in the context that he dominated one of the weakest divisions and ppl put him at 1 or 2 p4p.
