Who takes this bout at heavyweight? Could Spinks with his style win a UD over Mercer or would Mercer catch Spinks and stop him?

Spinks would easily outpoint Mercer, come on.

Spinks outpointed an '85/'86 Holmes. A 6/7 year older and fatter Holmes easily outpointed a prime Ray Mercer. I think I got the Jinx!!

Spinks does what Morrison failed to do and out points mercer. Ray looks one dimensional through out. Spinks by 10 round s to 2 .

True. While Mercer had the power, it only makes a different if you can land the killing blow. Mercer/Liston is one of my ATG fantasy fights, but I think Spinks may have had an easier time with Mercer than Liston due to styles and all.

Spinks schools him, Mercer was schooled by a washed Larry Holmes and Spinks could implement better movement tactics than a washed Larry Holmes

Yeah I have to agree with those picking Spinks. Just a much higher caliber of a fighter. A lucky bomb is Mercer’s only chance

anyone really think Mercer gets in any kind of shape for this fight? No way possible Mercer gets razor sharp for a lh. The guy training and preparing is Spinks. And Futch would have a basic guy like Mercer completely figured out and have his guy following directions.

Spinks' jab and movement is awful for Mercer, who probably wouldn't even show up in shape.

Prime Mercer was outpointed by Jesse Ferguson in a world title eliminator... I may go for Spinks here
