It seems as though the best fighters rarely get knocked out from a body shot. Body shot knock outs are a bit more rare in general. Who are some of the best fighters to get KO'd by body shots? One example: Oscar De La Hoya
I'm watching a highlight This content is protected Ron Lyle, Castillo, Hill and DLH are the best fighters here to get blown up with a body shot.
Rare? Maybe in championship fights but you see tons of body shot knockouts at small hall shows and on deep undercards. (even some televised mid-card bouts) Diablo Włodarczyk is getting on in years at 36 but was still a well-regarded former two-time champion on a solid 4-0 comeback run against contenders - and, notably, had never once been stopped in his 57 bout career and was considered extremely durable - when Murat Gassiev did him in with a single blow downstairs last October.
Also the first thing I thought of (and what I came in here to be first to post, hopefully) was DLH. Probably going to be true for most who click this open.
Other recent ones besides Gassiev vs. Włodarczyk in which non-tomato cans (world title belt holders, if not really transcendentally elite ones necessarily) got kayoed with below-the-neck hull breaches: Indongo, at the hands of Bud Crawford, last year. Kovalev, at the hands of Andre Ward (albeit controversial), also last year. JLC (though he was shot), at the hands of Ricky Hatton, going back a few. Moisés Fuentes, at the hands of Daigo Higa just last week. Liam Smith, at the hands of Canelo Álvarez in 2016. Zab Judah, at the hands of Amir Khan in 2011. I'm sure there's more..
Gotti stopping Dorin in the 1st rd with a body shot suprised me. I was looking forward to a tough fight
Freddie Pendleton was vulnerable to body shots He was stopped several times by body blows at various stages of his career : John Montes, Felix Trinidad and Ricky Hatton all stopped him with body shots.
