Mickey Ward must have ended a couple fights via body shot....nearly stopped Gatti in one of their bouts.
What you just said makes absolutely no sense. DLH and Corbett are merely "good" fighters, and the rest listed so far aren't "good"? Or they collectively form a tier of "good" that isn't to your liking with such lowly names as DLH and Corbett topping off the list? Tough crowd. I think what you're driving at is that not too many ATG's have been stopped via body shots? In general, from world championship level on down, body shot kayos are hardly some exotic blue-moon occurrence. They're pretty commonplace, and being the recipient of one isn't an indicator of whether or not you're "good" any more than is getting chinned (which, as we know, many ATG's have)
Ron Lyle went down when Gerry Cooney hit him in the liver Michael spinks also went down when mike Tyson hit him in the body
Gahhh, what LOSERS. Great fighters don't get stopped with body shots. (just funning at this point, rez)
DeLaHoya, to me, looked like a dive against Hopkins. Khan almost got Maidana out of there in the 1st round. Barrera over former Ring #1 Jesse Benavides was a solid left hook to the side. And RJJ doubling over Virgil Hill was so great that there's a picture of Hill's aura splashing off his body where Jones landed the blow.
Didn't Cooney break Lyle's ribs with that left hook? It sure looked vicious. I can't understand why Lyle came in at 211lbs against such a big guy like Cooney. He was 220 against Foreman, almost 5 years earlier. Anyone know why?
