The one thing that I do like about the UFC is that the best fighters pretty much always rise to the top eventually. Yet in boxing, Beterbiev is a highly skilled, exciting fighter in his prime, and he fights in a good division, yet he is totally unknown to casual fans.
He can just fight out of Grozny as long as foreign official are present and everything is sanctioned while the background stuff is sorted out. He does not HAVE to fight out of Canada.
He's a typical Haymon product. Paid handsomely when he enters the ring (once per year) and is not allowed to fight the more marketable products in the stable like Adonis. This career is going nowhere fast and by the time he's free of his canadian promoter and Haymon...he'll be on the wrong side of 35yrs old. Forget him and move on.
Beterbiev is just plain stupid. He is going to court one fight away from a championship fight because his promoter didn't give him what he expected... But Beterbiev didn't want to fight during Ramadan, and had a shoulder injury. Quebec's court system is as fast as it's healthcare system: which means don't expect to see anybody anytime soon. Even the supreme court said it was getting way too sllllooooowww and ruled that some people should be set free without a trial because of the too long delays. Murderes have been set free for that reason. Beterbiev will probably loose and if he wins it will take months and could go to the apeal court. If Beterbiev just accepted the situation (his promotion company did bring him to the door of a championship fight), he would have been fighting more often this year and would have make money. Now he is waiting and doing nothing.
Beterbiev will be in the nursing home with Ortiz at this rate.........................before he gets another fight.............
