If Pryor was in anybodies top 10 i'd be personally disappointed. Great fighter but he doesn't belong in here imo. Guys like Monzon and Hagler would be ahead of him for starters. Spinks and Arguello too. Olivares, the list goes on and on.

Sanchez is brilliant no doubt. He has a couple of flat efforts tho and imo Lopez is a bit overrated historically.

Sanchez is just my kind of fighter as well. So relaxed and clever in there, but still likes a good tear-up. If I had a big enough shoehorn McCallum would be in as well, but can't really justify that. :)

All true. I was leaning very heavily on how he destroyed Gomez. Beating him at his own game like that.

Absolutely mate and i respect your opinion. I'd just be surprised if many put Pryor forth even if it was a top 10. This isn't a big knock on Pryor - there's just so many to choose from.

Without thinking too much i'd have my own 7 as well as Monzon, Hagler, Arguello, Whitaker, Chavez, Spinks, Holmes, Lewis, Marciano, Foster, Jofre, Saddler, Hopkins and Jones ahead of him. I'm not as big a fan as others tho mate.

I don't bother with any of it much anymore, however when I was heavily into research, building a collection and getting right into it, the fighter's that left a great impression on me were...

    Tony Canzoneri
    Theo Medina (the French Gypsy)
    Ernie Roderick
    Ron Richards & Fred Henneberry

    and LLOYD MARSHALL.

For clarification, are we using the 'eye test' here, how they look in the ring ?

Or are we factoring in their resumes ?

I'm getting a sense that you're saying....forget about their overall resumes and such considerations... just consider hw the look when they're boxing. (You can , of course, consider their opponent's 'eye-test' skill level too).

So, do you mean the five best as per how they look ?

Can figure Jose Napoles would be a huge winner in a thread like this, what with there being just a smidgen of good footage of him currently available.

Eye test. Obviously great resumes will be supported by great ability but resumes are unimportant elsewise.
