Because in that one fight he beat the WBC's #1 rated contender.

Maybe he should bring Amir Khan up to MW , then he'll be more deserving of a shot.

Agreed on Andrade. He's only an option if he beats Derevyanchenko. Otherwise, Charlo is ahead of him.

    Not at all.

I'll be most annoyed if he goes smashing cans after Canelo II / BJS. Like I said, the only acceptable fights are WBSS winner or the mandos.

I'm just warning people that GGG's goal is now very strongly to maximize money - just stating what I believe to be the facts.

Yeah if Andrade took that Derevyanchenko fight and won he would be the mandatory and deserve a shot.

That's my gut feeling on it, too.

Most fighters hit a point where they see the finish line of their careers and max out paydays in anticipation of it, even if they fought all comers before. GGG is probably at that point right now. If he takes on another high risk fight, the other guy has to offer either a boatload of cash or a piece of the unification puzzle.

Luckily for fans who like close fights, both Canelo and BJS fights (if he wins) are high risk, intriguing fights at this stage of his career.

Jorge Sebastian Heiland was #1 rated by the WBC?

More reasons why the WBC should not be taken seriously.

So Heiland went from #1 to #17 because of one loss? He was injured pre-fight aswell.......

Was Heiland really #1 or are you just chatting nonsense like usual?

GGG should take that approach of going for as much cash as possible.

For years big promotions stopped him from getting at their fighters, now he holds the cards, he should do the same.

So, let me ask a question here...

Charlo is #1 contender for the WBC. Supposing he presses his advantage and forces the mandatory title shot...

Is he really coming on HBO to fight the reigning , defending, soon to be lineal and unified world middleweight champion?? Or will they insist upon Showtime and hide behind that?

We all know this is a dead convo. Haymon wil make him relinquish his mandatory spot (he made Quillen give up his belt for chrissakes!) before he goes into a fight on another network where he is the underdog.

He was ranked number #2 by the WBC before having 1 fight.

    Says it all.....

He wants big fights. Every boxer does, and he's getting this opportunity now at 35 approaching 36 so of course he's going to jump on it all. But said fights are still good matches that don't infect the integrity of the sport and really everyone should be happy. There's been some truly farcical spectacles recently and two top notch competitors fighting one another should always be appreciated.

See how G fans immediately become accountants when they know they’re guy is threatened. Nothing new. Golovkin has been a ducker whose only goal has been to maximize money but in his case he doesn’t have a real following of supporters who shell out their own money to watch him.

He’s still relatively small potatoes. Boxing thinks formulaic narrative equals dollars just like Hollywood. If the story is **** with plot holes, I don’t buy into it and neither do most of you. This guy sold himself short fighting cans. He becomes a has been after May 5th.
