I spoke to his Daughter on You Tube she said his fighting days were long over when she knew him and that he was a wonderful Father and man,

 

Probably my favorite fighter of his era. Funny that the same low quality cameras that supposedly obscure the nuances and subtleties of the Max Baers and Primo Carneras of the world don't prevent anyone from marveling at Steele's footage. Wish there was more of it-- incredible-looking fighter!

 

A few fighters in which the camera capture the essence of how good a fighter was that makes a guy wonder how much better they were in real time such as the Dempsey-Willard fight.

 

Watching Steele is for me, like eating ice cream.

 

Hi Seamus, the way Steele ended up dropping Lesnevich with that overhand left cross reminded me VERY much of Toney doing the same to Michael Nunn.
