Yeah among the old-timers it was pretty common after finishing one's own career to become either a coach or a ref/judge. Now you see less of the latter, if guys stat involved with the sport it's usually trying their hand at promoting or commentating if they can land a gig.

Floyd Joy would have won that with a bit of training, he almost beat IT!

Fernando Ocon. Was pulling double duty as a fighter and Marlon Tapales' trainer but I don't know if he officially retired as a fighter.

Former world champ Rodel Mayol who trains Aston Palicte, Al Rivera, and Romero Duno. That's a pretty good stable right there. Read somewhere that he was training a UFC guy at one point, I'm not quite sure.

    Marvin Somodio fought professionally before.

Edmund and Ala Villamor are the two head trainers of ALA Promotions. Michael Domingo is another former ALA fighter that is now a trainer for their stable.

Other Filipino fighters turned trainers that I know: Jovill Marayan, Joven Jorda (was in Tewa Kiram's corner against Matthysse and one of his main trainers), Dodie Boy Penalosa Sr. (trained his two sons when they fought)

Interesting. Including Berwela that means the PI have the market pretty much cornered on guys willing/able to pull professional double-duty.

Rooney actually wasn't a bad fighter, in fact D'Amato thought he might have a star in him at first - just a shame about that chin.

People mock Gary ''The Rocket'' Lockett because of the Pavlik fight but he was a legit KO artist with savage power. Even as schoolboy amateur he held KO records. Poor guy was a nervous wreck against Pavlik and he was more a natural LMW than MW. And this HL is missing some of his nice KOs.

Buddy McGirt was a good fighter, shame he injured his shoulder, he was never the same after that injury, but appeared to be a promising trainer at one time...................guess he is still training fighters, but hasn't had the success that I though he would have had. Eddie Gregory, Shields, Roach, Banks, etc.

There's absolutely loads, are you after ones who have trained recognised boxers or just any?

Dave Coldwell - trains Bellew, one of the McDonnell twins (maybe even both), Anthony Fowler, trained David Price

Preferably with someone notable in their stable as trainer, even if they weren't notable themselves in their pro boxing career, yes.
