I don't rate Wilder, but Ortiz is no 'monster' or 'bogeyman'.

This is the pre emptive setup to not give credit to Wilder when he wins the fight. 90% of posters here are full of it.

I do worry that could be the case. I don't understand it, I just enjoy boxing. Sure, we want "our guy" to win - but it's much more fun if you're just straight up into the boxing.

Unless Ortiz clearly ends up with an Haye-esque "wear and tear" injury during the fight or something like that happens, I will give Wilder full credit. Ortiz by my eye is easily one of the most dangerous heavies right now, even if not as dangerous as he has been. If Wilder wins the fight, let alone convincingly - then imho it's the strongest win of a current titleholder... at least for a couple of weeks, anyway haha.

Thats the thing about me. Im a fan of the sport first and foremost and ive rarely had favorite fighters. There are fighters that i enjoy moreso than others but i dont play favorites. I had somebody say that makes me a casual because i dont have a favorite fighter which i thought was idiotic. Its like saying im not a real Chicago Bears fan because i dont have a favorite player.

I'll definitely give Ortiz credit. At his age, fighting a prime young taller, more athletic, powerful guy.

I think he is overrated, at least by Brit fans - but FFS, he is not a bum.

Mo way on Earth is Ortiz a better win than a shot Klitschko. Point is none of the champs have a top notch win.

We'll see, but I am not convinced. I had not been convinced by Klitschko for a while, I expected AJ to beat him but not because he is the superhuman so many people seem to think he is. Pretty sure Ortiz would have got him at that point, too.

We can see from the knockdowns he suffered earlier in his career, the sparring stories, and how alert he is and how he pulls back from punches that he has chin issues he is protecting. A fighter who was able to take a punch would not be lurching back like that, and keeping their head back as they threw shots, if they were confident they could ride the counter.

Wilder is on high alert and fights extremely aware that he must not take shots. You dont do that if you have a decent chin. Even Lennox Lewis who many call chinny did not fight like that and he took some monstrous shots in his career, because he was in the pocket and happy to ride a shot to get his own off. Wilder doesnt even allow himself to be there to hit.

Having said all that, in terms of this fight. Ortiz chin is hardly great either, and we all know that he is there to be hit and Wilder will land.

He looks beatable now I think he means. Can't argue with that really, he has lost a step in the speed department

list "top contenders" with better resumes than Whyte.

I will wait. His resume alone is better than Wilder's ffs.
