As a child Sonnys mother had a son before she married Tobe Liston. The son was raised by Sonnys grandmother. When this half brother grew up he married BB kings mother. So Sonnys half brother was Kings step father.

Ike was a drug crazed Nigerian mad man with a waist too thin for his body. More a creation than a reincarnation.

Ike was either always undisciplined, irrational (with entirely the wrong temperament for boxing) who happened to have an astonishing physique ...or he was a good student of boxing who developed himself using only wholesome methods before severely going off the rails for no apparent reason. Or Ibeabuchi was competing in a sport with a relaxed view on PEDs during a time when there was an explosion of steroid use?

    • Psychiatric effects of steroids include excitation and depression. Aggression is common. Manic episodes of aggressive behavior are known as "roid rage," and violence may be the outcome. Depression and suicide may also occur.
Driving a car into a concrete pillar could be considered suicide. Raping a prostitute, biting a sparring partner on the leg could be seen as aggressive.

I’m not sure what hiding from the police in a cupboard in the room of a crime scene or seeing visions of demons count for but perhaps that could fall under the umbrella of excitation?

He was a musclebound man (small head on huge body, slim waist) showing the psychiatric effects of steroid abuse in a sport with relaxed views on PEDs during a steroid explosion?

Yes absolutely zero proof... totally coincidental..

You realize that none of them were named Sonny right? His brother may've been "Charles Liston" but he was always Sonny.

He was schizophrenic. That had nothing to do with steroids whether he used them or not.

I still think it is hard to ignore that Ike had a lot of the Psychiatric traits of steroid abuse ...and he looked like he was bulked up user during a time testing didn’t much happen.

If Ike was a lifelong schizophrenic How did he get so far in life without it coming out before it did? He won Amateur tournaments in Nigeria, he obviously was stable enough (for long enough) to dedicate himself so utterly to a very disciplined sport.

I must say, I don’t remember talk of schizophrenia at the time. The way Chinese whispers travel in boxing Ibeabuchis schizophrenia would have been documented before the Tua fight.

Schizophrenia often develops in the mid to late twenties.

If you check my posting history, I created a thread about an article that went into detail about how crazy he was and how guys like Kushner swept it aside in order to make money.
