You're right. Inoue got off to such a fast start beating Omar Narvaez in his eighth fight two years in but he hasn't done anything worthwhile in his last seven fights and three years.
It's called daring to be great, aka having balls, not playing it safe. I wouldn't say that too many make that mistake, since you can count on two hands the number of four weight champions we've had in the last eighteen years. Jones Jr, Pac, May, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, Donaire, Gonzalez... and Broner?
I don’t think he moved up just because of the risk, I actually think he was killing himself to make 112. Look at the weights Gonzalez has moved up it’s only like 7 pounds. I don’t consider his achievement to be that as impressive as Jones jr, May weather, Pac or Marquez because once he reallyfought in a significantly higher weight from where he started he got stopped. Gonzalez is no doubt a future hall of famer, but I can’t stand they were tryna make out to be as good or better than his mentor Arguello when he never was.
The question should be asked why did Frank Warren make Tete move up? Tete stated he had no problem making weight after he KO'd Butler. Can you imagine if he was on the Super Fly Card against Cuadras, Estrada, Gonzalez, or Wangek.
True, 104-115 is only about 10 percent of his body weight, whereas Jones Jr put on 25%, Mayweather put on 18%, Pacquiao put on 43%, and Marquez put on 18%. But Gonzalez' 10% is still equivalent to say Mikey Garcia 11% (at 140), slightly more than Crawford 8% (at 147), more than Lomachenko 7% (at 135), and now Inoue 9% (at 118) and people cream themselves over their weight climbing. None of them measure up to Arguello's 18% either. I still think Gonzalez deserved his #1 spot based on the %climb and his resume which shits all over everyone else currently in the p4p list.
I don’t think Gonzalez was ever p4p no.1 he was top 5 and arguably top 3 for me but he never beat anyone as dominant as Ward did with Kovalev or even Fury did with Klitischko. I don’t put much on weight climbing if they aren’t clearing out the division they are climbing into, like Mikey beating Broner and lipinets would not be as impressive to me than if he beat Linares and Easter. Crawford did it right he cleaned at 140 now if he cleans out 147 that is a true sign of an ATG.
I was certain he would be fighting Rungvisai as they were on the same hbo card but I don't know if hbo offered any of the big name super flyweights to him. Cuadras and Inoue would've made it an even bigger event to super fly.
Yeah Caudras vs Inoue then the winner gets Estrada vs Rungvisai. I personally think he should of stayed in that division, it’s popping right now and I think a fight between Rungvisai and Inoue is a war. That would a body punching masterclass, ribs shattering everywhere.
