Michael Montero reports that Vasyl Lomachenko will return on an ESPN card set for May 12. Ray BEltran if victorious tomorrow looks to be the the target opponent as GBP has balked at the date sighting a scheduling conflict with one of their HBO cards that will include the GGG/Alvarez replay. Thus all but eliminating the possibility of Jorge Linares being the opponent who was TR preferred opponent.

This will be Lomachenko's first fight at the LW limit of 135!

Rather see Loma/Linares but this is a good option. I think the excuses from Golden Boy is weak. I believe they just want to persevere their champions reputation and fight Loma coming up in weight would hurt Linares’s stock.

Nope, if that was the case why did they sponsor Garcia vs Salka or Canelo vs Khan?
It's about the money with TS Oscar and Bob.

Poor Beltran, gets the title then has to fight 3 months later.
The continued struggle of the journeyman to find a place in this business that won't **** him over.
    Hopefully he gets paid well.

I think essentially everyone would have preferred Linares over Beltran, too bad the reason why this will not happen will be forgotten and the usual suspect will attempt to pin the blame on loma's people for the Linares fight not being made.

Do any of you know much about Beltran's opponent tomorrow? Basically does he have more of a chance than is being presented?

This is TR's fourth attempt to get him that WBO belt, he won it once but had decision overturned due to his positive drug test which I have no reason to believe was not on the up and up. Beltran served a year suspension for the infraction.

Perhaps GBP should have done the boxing world a favor and allowed B+ Linares to fight him.

I would rather see Lomachenko fight Gamboa than Beltran. I want Beltran to have time to make some money, he really needs it, Beltran would have zero chance vs. Lomachenko, would be a total mismatch..................Oscar does not want Linares to get his arse kicked...............

Assuming he does win the title and avoids any tricky injuries in doing so, that sounds like a good situation to me. Four weeks or so off and then back into camp for the biggest opportunity of his life and a decent payday. Why would a fighter want to be sitting around idle any longer than that? He might lose a belt, but, on the other hand, if he acquits himself well, his stock could still go up.

why would they let Linares fight on a poverty network like ESPN when he is a HBO fighter?
