Froch, who was dropped by Groves in their first bout and shaken up a few times in their exchanges, confirms that his former foe does pack a big punch.

"Trust me, he can punch and even against a proper super-middleweight, he is big. He will also bring a lot of experience and confidence now he is a world champion, but I think we are all aware of that," Froch said to Sky Sports.

"But what happens when - and if - Groves gets that right going? Eubank Jr has never taken anything like that before. He might suddenly think 'jeez, I am not going to be able to swarm him', because Groves is actually not just a decent boxer but one who can punch. Hard.

Despite the claims being made by Groves, who says he badly hurt Eubank during sparring sessions, Froch predicts that there will be no issues with Eubank being capable of taking Groves' shots.

However, Froch does admit that Groves is a very live dog in the contest and could very well pull off an 'upset' - and some will view it as an upset because Eubank has become the betting favorite heading into the fight.

"I actually believe he will. I know he is a hard, hard kid. I hit him as hard as I could in sparring but he just looked at me, shrugged and went at it again. Yes, we're talking about 16oz gloves and headguards back then and the fact that I know Groves can bang, but there is just something about Eubank Jr, that he won't be stopped. That doesn't mean he can't be beaten, though," Froch said.

"I know Eubank Jr is fitter but he's not that fit. He doesn't work for every second of every round, he only works in bursts and then needs a breather. Groves could keep him on the end of his jab, then tag him with a couple of those big rights - with little gloves - that Eubank Jr has never felt before. No, I am not changing my mind and I am still sticking with Eubank Jr winning, but the more I look at this, the more I hear Eubank Jr talk, the more I see him on the pads, in those sharp but short spurts, there is a very real chance groves can prove me wrong"

Groves is too flawed for a well prepared Eubank jnr to lose against. CEJ isn't going to walk face first into his best punch like Froch did.

    He won't put a dent into Young Christopher's Brighton-bred bullet-proof, bomb-proof, boulder chin.

I am not taken in by all this Eubank jr is the best thing ever and no flaws, I think Groves is being taken too lightly by many people, I dont think jr hits as hard as he thinks and he has been rocked a couple of times by Blackwell and O Sullivan.

Martin Murray, Joshua Buatsi and Andy Lee all said Groves hits really hard too.

    Murray on Groves power:

'Murray has had a punishing career. As well as enduring 11 rounds with Golovkin, Murray stepped up to super-middleweight to face George Groves, then on his way to becoming a world champion. “The biggest puncher I’ve faced for one punch, Groves, just a back hand. It felt like there was more power in there. Golovkin’s was more of a thud. Every shot was hard. His jab was like a ramrod. It was solid. Everywhere he hit you, you felt it. Whereas when I fought Groves I was just thinking about his back hand. Because he’s got great power in that backhand. So I think for one-punch power I would pick Groves but for consistency, constant power, it’s obviously Golovkin. Fighting people like Groves, Abraham, Martinez, Sturm and Golovkin, that’s why I really rate Golovkin because obviously they’re all quality operators but Golovkin’s on that level higher than them. I’d seen there were chinks in all their armour but there was nothing in Golovkin. He gave nothing away. That’s why I rate him as the best out there at middleweight.”

    Buatsi:

“I sparred Groves two weeks ago, I had two sessions with him. That was good and I’ve been sparring a lot with Lawrence [Okolie] and my key sparring partner Duane Sinclair. So I’ve been getting the rounds in,” Buatsi said.

“We did eight rounds [with Groves], two sets of eight, good sparring with Groves very competitive. Groves and Lawrence [a cruiserweight] are the hardest hitters I’ve ever been in with. Groves and Lawrence… They hit hard. That’s why I’m saying if Lawrence lands that right hand, I mean the fight is over. That’s it.”

Buatsi gave his view of the Eubank fight. “I haven’t been in with Eubank, I haven’t sparred him before. I just feel that if he over commits then he could be in trouble from Groves. Groves is very calculated, calculating in what he does. He’s quite thoughtful about his work. But then Eubank brings youth, fitness, eagerness, which is good. It’s got the ingredients for a good fight again,” he said.

    Andy Lee:

When Lee sparred Groves, it would either amount to something technical, whereby both worked on moves and techniques, or something wildly exciting. It depended on the day. It depended on their moods.

“George is a very spiteful puncher,” Lee recalls. “He’s not a concussive, one-punch knockout guy but his punches are hurtful. He can hurt you repeatedly.

“With his jab, he’s very consistent. He’s also a great body puncher, George. He will dig in one or two between your punches and it takes the wind out of you. He’s very good at doing that. You attack him and he sneaks one in when you least expect it.”

But both Ronnie Davies and Seb Eubank have said that CEJ is punching much harder up at SMW than he was at MW.

the key thing here is eubank will feel power he never felt before but the same cant be said for groves he felt much more power

Groves just need to keep him at the end of the hard jab and break him down

Groves does not have the boxing brain of Saunders.

maybe but he has close to the skill level and has much more power and has a stronger jab when you also factor this in then he is a much tougher fight

ill ask you this so you think saunders is a tougher fight then groves?
