Then why go through the pretext of negotiating? GBP would not be the primary promoter responsible for the fighters purses anyway. Also if Linares won GBP cut of his future purses would have dwarfed any losses the company would have absorbed by letting fight under the auspices of anther promoter and network.

Well if Loma fights and beats Beltran for the WBO title, and Linares-Garcia fight for the titles at 135, the winners of those fights could square of for something approaching a megafight

I despise that they aren't bringing him back until May.

He's too entertaining for TR to waste his prime fighting twice a year.

Khan wasn’t going to beat Alvarez and Salka was a marquee fighter in their stable. It is about money but Linares keeping his title may be worth more money for unification fights at 135 down the line that are less risky.

Moses is a decent fighter. He’s long in the tooth. Moses (40-3, 25 KO) 39 years old from Namibia, likely receiving his last world title opportunity. He won the WBA “world” lightweight title in 2009 from Yusuke Kobori, defended it once against Takehiro Shimada, and lost it in 2010 to Miguel Acosta.

The excuse from Golden Boy is terrible. May 12 is a reasonable date for the Loma/Linares fight. They just don’t want it for whatever reason. I agree the Beltran fight isn’t a bigger fight but Loma can’t wait around and become stale because the other champions and promoters aren’t willing to take a risk in facing Loma. Rigo had the same problems of reluctance by top fighters and instead of staying busy, he decided to wait on these guys to change their minds...it never happened so he was very inactive which is something Loma refuses to be

If its Loma vs Beltran ill be annoyed. That means Loma gets his "third" title in his "third" weight class. But cmon man, Beltran???? Let Beltran feast on some contenders before getting dog walked by Loma. Beltran I believe got a gift in his last fight. He's shot and has taken too much punishment.

100% this. I don't live in the US, but will travel for most Loma fights. Versus Beltran? It's a waste of a fight in a short career. It has to be Linares next.

I'd rather Loma fight Linares or Easter.

Unfortunately Loma is considered high risk low reward. You dont get rich losing big time to Loma so he will be avoided. Another fatal flaw in the sport of boxing.
