I think the speed difference between Buster and Foreman's jabs was easily seen and that George would not connect with the jab on Mike like Buster did... Buster had quicker feet and moved better laterally.... Mike though is not as good as he was in 86-89... he lumps up big George due to speed and beats his ass eventually
Old Foreman was never taken serious when he was fighting, he was more of a novelty act and it shows in the opponents he faced. I am convinced that some of his die hard fans on this board were not even born when comebacking Foreman knocked over stiffs, long shoreman and Bar room brawlers. The boxing press widely ridiculed him and he was not as mean/introverted like he was in the 70's so he was good for publicity but was never taking seriously as a top talent at the division. Fact. The only A level he fought was Holyfield who arranged his face like a moon crater and made Foreman wear sun glasses for weeks in past fight interviews. Moorer was a fragile minded glass chinned Light heavy who white washed Foreman until the old man landed the lucky punch. Moorer got as gift decision against Holyfield and was one of the weakest Hwy title holders ever. Holyfield got plenty of flak fighting Grandpa Holmes and Foreman instead of young strong contenders. After the Moorer win Foreman refused to fight anybody with a pulse and got stripped.......and got another gift decision against hand picked Euro bum Schultz. Fact. Old Foreman would never ever get into the Ring with a Tyson, Lewis, Bowe ......he never even came near to second tiers like Botha Rahman Mercer Golata Tucker Smith Tua Williams and the list goes on and on and on. Foreman/Arum used the above names for marketing purposes similar what Arum did with Pac and Mayweather, screaming ducking but no intent for a real fight . Fact. Foreman strictly came back for money in the easiest way possible..........his name got him title shots not his outstanding ring achievements. Old Foreman would take a frightening beating to the head and body from the Ruddock Tyson..........Foreman would never been able to pull the trigger against a vastly faster fighter then him, a absolute blood bath with a ref mercy stoppage..........insert Tyson instead of Holyfield landing those combos on Foreman and everybody under the sun knows that Foreman would get stopped . Fact. In the end , George knew what the outcome would be ,ducked accordingly and ultimately had much more common sense than some arm chair 150 pounder on the net who never faced a legitimate threat in his life.
Well at least Foreman went the distance and received great praise for his efforts, not the least being from Holyfield. He also didn't bite him.
I think the fact your missing is that Ruddock didn't set up his power with any skill, or variation. He was a guy hoping to get lucky. One big, telegraphed punch. Tyson knew it was coming we all did. No jab to set up that power. Foreman had it all over Ruddock. Just as big, strong with grown up boxing skills. He also had two hands. Kind of important. Basically Foreman was an adult version of Ruddock.

Good post. Watching Ruddock throw that left, should make everyone wonder how he didn't get put on his backside more often. The complete, bodily commitment he put into throwing it - over and over was, at times, cringeworthy. As you suggest, Ruddock was essentially a one-handed fighter - with one punch in that one hand (a left-hook of sorts). I also tend to favor two-handed fighters, with options in their armory.
