So after stopping mark medal in 86 Tommy moved on , what if he stayed at the weight one More fight , against John the beast Mugabi ?
Did the Beast stand a chance or would Tommy drill him ?

Hearns by quick ko. Mugabi was extremely hittable and Hearns would land the right hand bomb early.

I've actually got Tommy taking him out in 2 .Before Mugabi even gets warmed up , Tommy would be cracking him fast.

Agreed. Against a guy with this sort of power he'd be all business.

I see Tommy either taking him out in 2, or stopping him late in 11. Either way, John doesn't pose the threat many think he would.

This could be a mini war. Two great punchers, neither will stand off. I got Hearns, but I'm not as confident as some, saying he will be blown out the water Mugabi.

Hearns wanted no part of John the beast Mugabi at 154 pounds. Tommy would be scared of the beasts power with his chin, and I think John would go right at him, Mugabi by 2nd round ko

Mugabi has a puncher`s chance. Otherwise Hearns is better fighter, boxer and more athletic

Mugabi, one of ESB's most overrated fighters.

Why do you think that is John?

I went into it in great length some months back. He is rated almost entirely off a loss and ko's over mostly ordinary opposition or washed up ex contenders. Admittedly he had a couple of wins over fringe contenders. He showed some vulnerabilities pre Hagler and is 100% excused post Hagler. Now i give leeway for quite a few fighters post certain losses but they will have had a lot more in the W column than John.

If you look at Mugabi's W column it is incredibly thin per his reputation. Huge power but very porous defense and despite the Hagler showing he had a bit of quit in him imo.

We tend to over rate sluggers or power punches in general. When they win it is usually in spectacular fashion. I agree on Mugabi.

Well that certainly reaffirms my opinion! Absolutely we can be prone to overrating huge punchers and their impressive knockouts.

No fighter is unbeatable no matter how great. I think your prediction could definitely come true, he was a beast. When tagged with hard shots of Hagler he comeback instantly with hard fast counters that would stun Hagler momentarily. Hearns is quite obviously the better fighter, but this could be a styles thing where Hearns comes off second best. Surprised how one sided people have this !
