I think some people are just so used to making up stuff in order to make Canelo look bad, it's like part of their daily routine. Saying that Canelo undoubtedly only wanted a piece of the shot cripped Martinez doesn't make any sense given that the video was before Martinez became shot / cripped lol.
Style wise and with 160 experience, I think Martinez has the beating of him. Good fight though. May change my mind depending what Canelo achieves at 160, but Martinez is a better fighter than Lara and I think Canelo was lucky to beat him.
Martinez, the guy has wins over Pavlik and Williams who would both fairly easily beat Canelo. It's not guys moving up from 147 we are talking about here lol
Canelo's deeper defensive skillset and greater technical range as a counterpuncher carries him to a 116-112 type victory. Martinez isn't a mover in the ridiculously contrary mold of Lara, he's someone who'll engage. The oft-repeated myth that movers stump Canelo is pretty baseless, besides, as no mover he's faced has come anywhere close to outclassing him - I had him legitimately beating Lara in their fight, and Floyd only took flight sporadically, electing instead to beat Canelo at his own game (center ring boxing), which is something the Argentine can't do. Canelo possesses too great a breadth of nous in setting up counters and has intelligence enough to identify the importance of the inside angle in boxing Martinez (as opposed to the basic 'get your lead foot on the outside of his' drill). Sergio's shots would hit leather and air and he'd be outfeinted, outmaneuvered and sharply countered as the fight drew on.
Martinez would school him but if the judges had anything to say with it a Canleo SD or Draw is not out of the question.
