It was a very good win! However, lets put a little perspective on this and remember, CeJ has not had what anyone would call a stellar career. Groves beat a guy he should have.
Exactly. Groves chin and stamina aren't great but they're not that bad either. Just kinda average. I completely agree that the weight played a part especially regarding stamina. You fight someone bigger and stronger, you have to work harder. Also the fact that Eubank isn't a puncher counter-acted Groves average chin. That was evened out even more by the fact that while Eubank has a good chin, Groves has big power. Eubank's better chin but less power vs Groves better power but lesser chin. As far as Eubank freezing, I think a lot of that is the opposition. Eubank couldn't do much vs BJS and Groves early on because that's when they're at their best. He needs them to tire and slow down before he can do anything. If he tried to attack BJS early on he would have just got "matadored" like Lacy vs Calzaghe because BJS is so quick and sharp early on. Same with Groves, look what happened when Froch tried to rush Groves early in their first fight! High level opposition simply won't let Eubank do what he wants early in a fight, its' only when they tire that Eubank is able to get some opportunities.
Groves was a 2 - 1 underdog! Very Few were giving him a chance. I thought he has an edge, but with so much bad crap about Groves it made me wonder..........
He's not as quick as he was but as Groves has slowed down he's stopped the exaggerated movement too, and is controlling distance very well. His jab, patience, cuteness & right hand keep opponents honest. He boxed well last night, very well. I need to watch more of Callum Smith but as of now, I see Groves as the top SMW in the World.
