Exactly....they were once on opposite ends of the scale...but would have met in the middle over time.

Nah, he would have probably hated Ali’s guts just like Frazier did for the rest of his life.

I don't think so, only Joe kept that feeling for Ali .Most other heavy s he beat were fine with Muhammad after he defeated em .

I feel he would have liked Bowe and of course George, his friend and former sparring partner. Probably Tyson as well, since Tyson as a boxing historian and a fan would have treated him with utmost respect, like he did with alot of former champions

One of Liston's great quotes from 1963 re: "Clay".
"Clay should be locked up for trying to impersonate a fighter".

Lol. People who knew the "other side of Liston" said he was a decent guy.

In my opinion , in Ali's mind , he had to be over the top with Joe. Frazier had whipped him , that got to Ali .To have his undefeated record taken off him and be dropped on his ass .So from then on in Muhammad had to try and claw some respect back ..hence the over the top name calling and what have you. It wasn't right what Ali did against Joe ,and that's coming from a Ali fan but that's my take on it .
