This was in retaliation to some of Dokes’ rough tactics but... https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/the-holyfield-headbutt-low-blow-combo.562493/
Holyfield was the kind of guy that would do anything to win, he didn' have qualms with steroids, low blows and headbutts, anything to win.
Only really noticed the headbutts when Holyfields hair fell out because of the steroids.Maybe it just look more noticeable when it’s a bald head doing the butting but never thought he had built a rep for that before then.
By defending one of the most prominent steroid cheats in the history of the sport... way to take the high road...
Holyfield got dirtier with age. But that's the case with most fighters, they compensate for their dissipating physical gifts with spoiling, a variety of fouls and other veteran tricks. Dont be naive guys. You don't have to like it or be a fan.....but when there is that much money on the line its ALL fair game as long as you get your hand raised at the end.
Ali held, Tyson elbowed, Foreman pushed,Bowe hit low, Lewis held and hit, Bruno and 90% of British fighters rabitt punch too much. As long as you limit it or are sneaky enough to not get disqualified, it's not on you. The referee is there and gets paid for a reason. It's his job. It's the fighters job is to try to win, nobody else in there is gonna do him any favors and nobody can stop him from retaliating with the same foul that is committed against him
To be fair, the evidence is mainly circumstantial. I think that he did it, but I would be more comfortable pointing the finger if he had failed a drugs test.
