Yup and I could see those little legs of his getting chopped up big time by anybody even semi competent before being smashed up on the ground,it would be awesome to watch
You see him defending well as his head gets dribbled off the canvas like a basketball? Give it a rest troll.
It's not about that, it's about the fact that his elusiveness would see him on his feet at all times. With his reaction speed, I could see him knocking guys out easy. You underestimate this man and this man just keeps delivering. It's entirely possible that he could go into the UFC and beat Conor McGregor in the Octagon. I do not doubt this man for one second. He has the skills to do it.
That style doesn't work as well with smaller gloves and when knees and kicks are involved. This is common knowledge. There's many more ways that he could he caught than there is in boxing.
Yeah that's why I said if he was younger, I could see him dominating. Not everyone has that kind of speed/reaction/ring iq. It's a shame he's 41 already. Had he been let's say 29, Dear Lord the damage he could do to the UFC would be unprecedented. He would have ruled it with an iron fist. Equip this man with a ground game/BJJ/Muay thai etc and Oh My Lordy!!
I could see him dominating MMA as well in his younger days, I think a lot of boxers could. If Holly Holm could go down and be champion, why not the guys? You don't think guys like Marvin Hagler, Gennady, Kovalev, etc could be a force to be reckoned with?
Holm has also a background and kickboxing and trained a Jacksons her entire career which made the transition easy. The weak talent pool in WMMA also helps. Plenty of top boxers could indeed transition to MMA and do well... But certain styles transition better than others and it would also require a complete dedication to MMA along with years of cross training.
I can agree with this, I think all of the names I listed above has the dedication, talent to do well in most sports they strive to do well in. I don't see why Floyd's style wouldn't do well. Build up a good take down defensive skillset, amp up the striking, make some tweaks and he could get in there and do well. The worst champion - Tyron Woodley is that kind of fighter. You can literally throw no punches and win fights. What a joke that guy is!
Woodley makes that possible with his wrestling pedigree and powerful striking. Floyd wouldn't be able to replicate that style even with cross training.
Which can be fine tuned and learned to a degree to win fights in MMA, I think. I don't think you need world class wrestling to win MMA fights. Even in MMA, the most important part of winning is striking - it will always be. All fights start on the feet and that's why strikers will always have an inherent advantage over pure wrestlers or jujitsu specialists. The fighters I specified I think could cross over very well. Hagler, Golovkin, Kovalev, Mayweather, Pacquiao. All are extreme talents in their own right.
To a degree.... and it takes many years to fine tune and perfect. Never said that. The most important part of winning at high levels is being WELL rounded... But it's generally agreed that those with a wrestling or grappling background tend to have an advantage. False. Wrestlers and BJJ specialists with serviceable striking are usually the top guys in pretty much every division. I suggest watching more MMA... You're very ignorant of many things lol.
Not ignorant at all, I watch my fair share of MMA. I never said strikers are dominant in every division, I said that good strikers have an advantage in every fight because of how the fight game starts, on the feet. That's all. It's the nature of the game. The names I stated above would definitely do damage in MMA, even with a lack of a ground game. If Mayweather had trained in the other disciplines, how could you not see him being dominant? I don't watch MMA as much as I do boxing, but I used to train in an MMA gym and know enough about it.
Mayweather is extremely skilled and smart in the ring and I think if he tried 10-15 years ago with at least a year or 2 to adapt and work on wrestling etc. he probably could have had some success but is to old and slow now. His TD defence would be the main issue he would have imo along with the ability to defend the legs kicks.
